UNION CHURCH CEMETERY

            This is a large cemetery in the Chesterfield community of Henderson County, Tennessee, dating to 1826, though few graves with death dates before the 1870s are marked. The cemetery is still in use and is very well maintained. The oldest part of the cemetery is at the grove of cedar trees at the slight rise to the south of the area enclosed by the access drive. There probably were fieldstones marking additional graves in this area at one time, but they have been removed. David Donahue recorded this cemetery December 28 and 29, 1990; undated it May 2, 1993; checked and updated it January 4, 2002; and updated it October 19, 2003.

            Patsy Joyner, E. B. Evans, and Mrs. Eula Scatterday recorded this cemetery circa 1975. Their record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (Memphis, R. H. Harris, 1976), Vol. III, pp. 549-560. This earlier work is referred to as "Joyner et al." in the notes below.
