NEW BEECH GROVE CEMETERY

New Beech Grove Cemetery, January 1999

New Beech Grove Cemetery is located on McHaney Mill Road across from New Beech Grove Baptist Church, about 8 miles southwest of Lexington. In 1999 it looks like the cemetery had been vandalized in the past and put back in order. In 2004, some of the markers noted as fallen in 1999 where standing upright but most of these had not been reattached to their bases. There is a black encrustation on many of the markers here which makes them difficult to read; if you plan to visit, take sidewalk chalk with you.

David Donahue recorded New Beech Grove Cemetery January 16 and 17, 1999, and checked and updated it March 23, 2004. Faye Hinson, Pam Hinson, and Peggy Zimmerlee recorded the cemetery circa 1976. Their record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (R. H. Harris, Memphis, Tennessee, 1976), Vol. I, pp. 143-147. Their work is referred to as "Hinson et al." in the notes below.
