BARREN SPRINGS CEMETERY

This cemetery is located on State Route 104 in the Reagan Community, about 12 miles from Lexington. It is located on both side of the highway and extends down a steep slope on the eastern side. It is kept mown. There are dozens of unmarked and fieldstone-marked graves. In 1998 the sign on the church read Reagan Baptist Church.

David Donahue recorded Barren Springs Cemetery November 28, 1992; updated it November 27, 1998; and checked and updated it March 14, 2004. Mrs. Jake Smith recorded Barren Springs Cemetery circa 1974. Her record appears in Henderson County, Tennessee Cemetery Inscriptions (R, H. Smith, Memphis, 1976), Vol. II, pp. 295-302. This earlier work is referred to as "Smith" in the notes below.
