OBITUARY

"Life’s Race Well Run, Life’s Work Well Done"

          Brother Jerry Yarbrough, the son of the late Allen and Mary Irene Yarbrough Toliver, was born March 30, 1941, in Decatur[ville], Tennessee.

          The second child born to this union, two sisters, Barbara Yarbrough and Willa Mae Hunt preceded him in death.

          As a young man, he attended Decatur [County] Training School. He moved to Indianapolis, Indiana in 1967.

          Brother Yarbrough worked for American Precast from 1968 until his retirement in 1997, with 28 years of service. He was a member of Union Local 1325. It was at American Precast that he met James Alexander who asked him to join the Rocky Shores Gospel Group. He held the office of Booking Manager at the time of his death.

          Brother Yarbrough departed this life on Tuesday, December 15, 1998 at age 57.

          He was baptized in Decatur[ville], TN when he was very young. Brother Yarbrough was a member of Eastside New Hope Baptist Church and served on the deacon board.

          He leaves to cherish his memory, a devoted wife Dera L. Yarbrough; one son, Byron Southward; two daughters, Lynise Poindexter and Coprice Southward; one sister, Lola Levi; 10 grandchildren, Anthony Tucker, Shanita Southward, Dezmen Southward, Darius Southward, Cameron Herring, Osha Southward, Byron R. Meads, Cordia Meads, Byron S. Southward, Jr., and Tyra Williams; three aunts, Mae Johnson of Lexington, TN., Sophie Brasher and Lucy Barker of Decatur[ville], TN.; father and mother-in-law, Robert and Nelvia Poindexter; one sister-in-law, Robyn Goins; three bothers-in-law, Tyrone, Reginald and Michael Poindexter; a host of nieces, nephews and many, many friends.
