AVERETT CEMETERY

Averett Cemetery metery is located south of Decaturville off Brooksie Road. The cemetery is indicated on the U.S.G.S. Scotts Hill Quaradngle (1986). It is reached by a mile-long trail through the woods, beginning behind a private house about a mile and a half south of the Brigance Cemetery. In 1992, the trail to Averett Cemetery was clear and easy to follow, but the cemetery was overgrown. There are many more graves here than markers.

David Donahue recorded Averett Cemetery December 26, 1992. Margarett Alexander recorded Averett Cemetery in November 1975. Her record appears in Decatur County, Tennessee Cemetery Records published by the Captain Nathaniel A. Wesson Chapter, United Daughters of the Confederacy, Parsons, Tennessee, 1984, pp. 24-26.
