Reverend JOHN WESLEY RIGGIN born Maryland, August 26, 1794; moved with parents to Mason Co., Ky.; licensed to preach in Methodist Church, 1823, as a Methodist local preacher; took up itinerant ministry, Kentucky Conference, until 1831. Died Fleming Co., Ky., Sept. 30, 1845.

HARBERT COLLIER, Henry Co., Tenn., died June 11, 1845 aged 71 years, 9 months and 9 days [July 2, 1773]. His wife, MAHALA COLLIER, died Sept. 17, 1845 aged 71 years, 9 months and 5 days [September 12, 1774].

LUCY MILLER wife of Dr. Beverly Miller, Henderson Co., Ky.; born Fayette Co., Ky., 1802; died Sept. 19, 1845.

MILDRED MAXEY daughter of Richard and Frances Meux; born Pittsylvania Co., Va., Jan. 28, 1811; moved with parents to Madison Co., Ala., then to Haywood Co., Tenn. where she married Thomas E. Maxey; 3 children. Died November 11, 1845.

On January 23, 1846, so the New Orleans DELTA reported, JESSE KIRTLAND, successful candidate for clerk of the district court shot and killed C. Y. KIMBALL, a local hotel operator in self-defense in Covington, La.

ELIZABETH ELLISTON wife of Joseph T. Elliston, died near Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 25, 1846. [See March 20, 1846 issue for further comments.]

Reverend HARDY MURFEE CRYER only child of James and Mary (Cotton) Cryer, Hertford Co., N.C.; his father was a veteran of the Revolutionary War and moved his family to Sumner Co., Tenn. soon after Hardy was born. His grandfather, John Cotton, was also a veteran of the Revolutionary War. His mother lived to be quite old, died just two weeks before his own death. His wife, Martha, predeceased him by eighteen months. He died Feb. 7, 1845. [His father served in the Tennessee legislature, 1807-1809; 1815-1816. He died March 12, 1816.]

Rev. GRIGSBY RUSH died Logan Co., Ky., Dec. 19, 1845 in the 65th year of his age. Born, reared and married in N.C.; moved to Maury Co., Tenn., 1809; to Logan Co., Ky., 1812; licensed to preach, Methodist Church, 1809; his wife died June 28, 1842 in the 63rd year of her age.

SARAH E. H. MERICK daughter of Joseph and Mary Merideth; born Mecklenburg Co., Va., 1816; moved with parents to Haywood Co., Tenn.; to Hempstead Co., Ark, 1833, where she died Sept. 12, 1845.

Miss M. E. WEST died Decatur, Ala., Nov. 28, 1845 in the 26th year of her age; daughter of Elzy and Mary West, Morgan Co., Alabama.

ELIZABETH W. FERRELL daughter of Edmond and Mary Taylor; died Jan. 2l, li46 in the 47th year of her age; six children.

ALMA MATILDA ANNIS daughter of Rev. Jerome B. and Laura Annis; born Chautauqua, New York, Nov. 15, 1829; moved with parents to Arkansas about l836. Died Dec. 3, 1845.

ELIZABETH GATEWOOD born Culpeper Co., Va., 1780; moved with her father, James Slaughter, and family to Mercer Co., Ky. about l793; married Thomas Feland of Harrodsburg, Ky., who died leaving her with a daughter; she then married Fleming Gatewood with whom she had several children, including E. B. Gatewood in whose residence in Limestone Co., Ala. she died Feb. 13, 1846.

ISABEL H. STAFFORD born Montgomery Co., Ky., July 7, 1806; daughter of James and Hannah Elliott; moved to Fayette Co., Tenn. in 1833 and married Rev. James Stafford, Presbyterian preacher. She died of winter fever in Greenville, Bond County, Illinois, Feb. 13, 1846.

INFORMATION WANTED. JAMES G. HEFFINGTON was reared in Sumner Co., Tenn. by the Rev. James Gwinn and when last heard from he was in Jackson, Miss. His brother, ISAAC HEFFINGTON was reared in Giles Co., Tenn. and moved to Lauderdale Co., Ala. where he lived until about 1834 when he left with the intention of finding his brother, James G. Neither of the brothers had been heard from for many years. Their brother, John L. Heffington and Joseph Bond, living in Polk Co., MO wanted to know their present whereabouts.

MARY STORRS SMITH born Caroline Co., Va., 1782 and with husband, John Smith, moved to Henry Co., Ky. many years ago; died March 9, 1846; six sons.

SALLY COOPER wife of William H. Cooper; daughter of Andrew and Franky Field, died Feb. 14, 1846 aged 29 years. Cumberland Presbyterian.

ELISHA T. BOND died January 5, 1846 in residence of his father, Elisha Bond, Henderson Co., Tenn. in the 20th year of his age.

MARTHA BELL JONES died in residence of her mother, Mrs. Mary Jones, Bowling Green, Ky., Feb. 23, 1846 in the 21st year of her age; consumption.

MARY AGNES COX wife of Henry Cox, Warren Co., Ky.; daughter of Mrs. Mary B. Bacon; died of measles in Bowling Green, Ky., Jan. 2, 1847 in the 21st year of her age.

CHARLES HOLLAND born in Pennsylvania; at age of 15 years he moved with his parents to Abbeville District, S.C. (before the American Revolution); when the revolution broke out he enlisted and served for seven years; after the war he returned to S.C., married and farmed; moved to Miss., 1811; died in Choctaw Co., Miss., Feb. 22, 1846 aged 98 years and 10 months old [April 22, 1747]. [His pension application, S7027, bears his birthdate as April 2, 1758.]

NEEDHAM RAIFORD born Johnson Co., N.C., Feb. 3, 1787; moved to Hardeman Co., Tenn., then to McNairy Co., Tenn. where he died recently.

MARTHA E. BIRKHEAD died Dec. 6, 1845 in the 17th year of her age.

Rev. JOHNSON B. FIELDS, a member of the Indian Mission Conference died Feb. 9, 1846.

MARY CAROLINE CUMMINGS died Feb. 22, 1846 aged 7 years, 5 months [September 22, 1838].

MARY JANE BATEY wife of George W. Batey died in Huntsville, Texas, March 1, 1846 aged 24 years; had moved about six years ago from Rutherford Co., Tenn. to Texas; two children.

THOMAS WILKS died Feb. 19, 1846, in his grandson, Thomas Wilks, Jr. 's house, Monroe Co., Miss. in his 89th year of age; born Richmond, Va., 1787 [1757]; moved after participating in the American Revolution to Laurens Dist., S.C.; to Monroe Co., Miss., 1840 where he died. [His pension application, S7927, reveals that he was born in Charlotte Co., Va., 1759 and lived and made the various moves mentioned in his obituary.]

BARTLETT HILLIARD born New Kent Co., Va., Feb. 28, 1770; he was an infant when his father died. He married a daughter of David Moss and moved to Mercer Co., Ky.; then to Green Co., Ky. about 1797; he died of erysipelas, Dec. 6, 1845.

HENRIETTA S. ROZELL wife of Ashley B. Rozell; died Rutherford Co., Tenn., March 25, 1846 in the 36th year of her age; five children.

Johnston; daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth Porter; born Caswell Co., N.C., Feb. 8, 1787; her parents died in 1800 and she grew up among "respectable families", eventually moving with a sister to their brother's home in Robertson Co., Tenn. (1816). She died March 20, 1846; one daughter.

ELIZABETH K. MOORE, nee Alstin; born Sept. 20, 1803; married William Moore, 1821; moved to Tenn., October 1839; died Lauderdale Co., Tenn., Feb. 18, 1846; several daughters.

CATHARINE MAWDSLEY died St. Louis, MO, March 15, 1846 aged 18 years; member of Wesley Methodist Chapel, there.

Rev. JOHN A. KINGSLEY born Hampshire Co., Mass.; moved with parents to Ashtabula Co., Ohio, then to Jefferson Co., Ky. where he taught school; licensed to preach in Methodist Church, 1844; died Raymond, Hinds Co., Miss., Feb. 7, 1846 aged 33 years; he was buried in that town.

BIRD KENNEDY died Neshoba Co., Miss., March 7, 1846 in the 27th year of his age; native of Georgia and moved to Mississippi 1840/1; husband and father (4 children).

EDMUND T. GREEN born Mecklenburg Co., Va., July 31, 1808; moved to Tenn., 1831; died Haywood Co., Tenn., March 25, 1846.

JOSIAH HOWELL died Oregon Co., MO, March 21, 1846. Born Bertie Co., N.C., 1763; moved to Tenn. 1795; to MO, 1838. One son mentioned was Wilie Howell. [The given name, Wilie, was generally pronounced as Y-ly, not Willie, at this period in time.]

BENJAMIN SYKES, native of Greenville Co., Va.; born 1800; moved to Ala., 1820; entered Methodist ministry in 1825 in which he labored until his death, November 1845.

General GEORGE WHITFIELD TERRELL born Nelson Co., Ky., 1803; when he was young, his father, Colonel James Terrell, moved his family to Tennessee. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1827; in 1828 he was appointed district attorney which office he held until he moved to Mississippi in 1836; in the spring of 1840 he moved to Texas and was appointed district judge, including San Augustine and held this post for several years; appointed an Indian commissioner, 1842-1844; went as minister to England for the Republic of Texas in December 1844; on his return to Austin, Texas it was apparent that he was seriously ill with consumption to which he succumbed, May 13, 1846; husband and father (2 children).

MARY ANN EVERETT wife of John Everett, Jr., Washington Co., Ala.; daughter of Josiah and Sarah Rodgers; born Putnam Co., Ga., Jan. 29, 1814; moved to Ala., 1829; died Mar. 27, 1846.

CHARLES YOUNG died Wilson Co., Tenn., Feb. 5, 1846 in 95th year of his age; born and reared in an English village, Mackley. Methodist.

MARY McCULLOUGH born Jessamine Co., Ky., May 12, 1808; married Daniel McCullough, Feb. 1832; died April 28, 1846.

WILLIS HOLDER died Jasper Co., Miss., April 30, 1846 aged 57 years; born Laurens District, S.C., where he married Elizabeth Lantrip and moved to Jackson Co., Miss. where they lived for 26 years, then moved to Jasper County.
