JONATHAN WEBSTER born Spotsylvania Co., Va., Mar. 19, 1779; died Copper [Coffee] Co., Tenn., Nov. 6, 1842 [The Nashville WHIG, Dec. 8, 1842 states that he died December 5, 1842]; served in both houses of the Tennessee legislature. [He served in the House of Representatives, 1813-181l; in the state Senate, 1823-1825; 1829-1831; 1835-183l.]

JOHN UNCAS, last male of the royal line of the Mohegan Indians, died at Mohegan, Connecticut December 19, 1842 aged 89 years.

LEMUEL N. DUNCAN died Columbia, Tenn., Jan. 12, 1843 in the 23rd year of his age. A further tribute to his memory by a group of Duncan's friends and associates, extolling his "pleasing manners and openness of heart" dated January 13, 1843.

Captain WILLIAM B. ALDERSON born Richmond, Va., Jan. 1, 1793; moved with parents to Baltimore, Maryland; with several young men he embarked for France, about 1812 and was captured by the British, taken to England where he lived about five years; returned to America, to Tenn., to Alabama, and finally to Maury Co., Tenn. where he died Jan. 10, 1843.

JAMES McCORKEL, native of Pa., moved with parents to N.C.; moved to Monroe Co., Miss., and died Jan. 24, 1843 of "near" 80 years.

NANCY NEBLETT daughter of Josiah and Polly Daly, born Mecklenburg Co., Va., Mar. 24, 1781; married Sterling Neblett, Oct. 11, 1798; moved to Montgomery Co., Tenn., 1807, where she died Nov. 21, 1842; member of Methodist Church for 41 years.

MARTHA JANE STEWART wife of Arthur Stewart, daughter of John and Christiana Cobler; died Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 14, 1843; born in Tennessee, 1821.

WILLIAM HENRY HOOD son of David K. and Martha J. Hood, died Williamsport, Tenn., Feb. 7, 1843 aged 1 year, 10 months, 19 days [March 18, 1841].

GREENBERRY ROGERS son of Lewis and Ann Rogers, died Hickman Co., Ky., Dec. 27, 1842 aged 10 years, 3 weeks.

Colonel ELY R. ROSS, native of South Carolina, where he married before moving to Miss. about 1800 and then to La., 1819; died of dropsy, January 21, 1843.

LIPSCOMB NORVELL, father of C. C. Norvell, editor of the Nashville WHIG, died Mar. 3, 1843 aged 87 years; an officer in the Revolutionary War. [His pension application file, S5835, relates that he died March 2, 1843; enlisted in Va.; moved to Ky., then to Tenn.]

JOHN HUNT, Robertson Co., Tenn., died there, recently; aged 89 years old.

ROBERT RICHFORD ROBERTS, a Bishop of the Methodist Episcopal Church, son of Robert and Mary Roberts; born Frederick Co., Maryland, August 2, 1776; moved to Westmoreland Co., Pa., 1785; reared on a farm; married Elizabeth Oldham, 1798; became a renowned Methodist preacher; elected a bishop in May 1816. Died March 26, 1843; buried in a remote place in Lawrence County, Iowa.

ELIZABETH A. CLEMENT oldest daughter of William and Mary Clement, born North Carolina, September 4, 1811; moved with parents to Gibson County, Tenn. where she died recently.

CHARLOTTE ROBERTSON, nee Reeves, widow of General James Robertson, born Northampton Co., N.C., 1751; the Robertsons moved to Nashville, Tenn. in the spring of 1780 and landed at the site of Nashville, April 2, 1780; mother of eleven children. She died about 3 miles from Nashville in residence of son-in-law, John B. Craighead, June 11, 1843; her progeny numbered "considerably over 200 souls."
