Reverend GEORGE PICKERING, Methodist preacher, New England Conference, died December 8, 1846, Waltham, Massachusetts; an itinerant preacher for 57 years; born Talbot Co., Md., 1769; possibly oldest "effective" Methodist preacher "in the world."

Reverend H. F. GAREY "has established" an academy; the Henry Institute in New Castle, Henry County, Kentucky.

Reverend ROBERT W. COLE born in east Tennessee, 1818; entered Methodist ministry at the age of 18 years; labored in the Tennessee, Arkansas and Memphis conferences; "located" in 1843 but re-entered the Memphis Conference in 1847, serving in the Fayette Co., Tenn. area; died Oct. 8, 1846.

ADALINE T. POSTON daughter of James R. and Elizabeth Bosley, Davidson Co., Tenn.; born December 24, 1817; married A. H. Poston, August 15, 1837; joined Methodist Church, 1841; died Cadiz, Ky., Nov. 20, 1846; burial in Clarksville, Tenn. in a graveyard set apart by her father-in-law, John H. Poston, for his relatives.

KING PARKER born Hertford Co., N.C., Jan. 12, 1775; moved to Tenn. in 1817; died Sumner Co., Tenn., Nov. 19, 1846; husband and father.

THOMAS G. CARDWELL died Davidson Co., Tenn., Sept. 30, 1846 in the 28th year of his age; a Methodist since the age of 17 years.

NANCY EASTERWOOD daughter of John and Jemima Kirby, born and reared in Halifax Co., Va.; moved with parents to Union District, S.C.; married Simeon Easterwood and moved to Clark Co., Ga.; died Aug. 11, 1846 in the 86th year of her age.

NANCY McKENDREE EASTERWOOD, daughter of Jeremiah and Louisa H. Easterwood, died August 16, 1846 aged 1 year, 1 day [August 15, 1845]; granddaughter of Nancy Kirby Easterwood.

JESSE F. MARTIN son of John and Mary Martin, born Montgomery Co., Tenn. and moved with parents to Haywood Co., Tenn., 1834; joined Methodist Church, 1838; died Nov. 17, 1846 in the 26th year of his age; husband and father (two children).

DRUCILLA BAILEY died in her father's residence in Hardin Co., Ky., Nov. 30, 1846 aged about 14 years old.

ROBERT HILL born Frederick Co., Md., June 1, 1764; moved to Mason Co., Ky., 1797 where he died Nov. 12, 1846; husband and father (two of his sons were local Methodist preachers).

GEORGE W. WILLIAMS son of Lewis and Sarah Williams died at the Pleasant Hill (Ala.) Campground, Oct. 29, 1846 in the 8th year of his age.

Colonel JOHN ORMOND born Mecklenburg Co., N.C., Nov. 8, 1803; moved to Tenn. when young; died Jan. 3, 1847; husband and father (5 children).

Tribute of Respect for Major JOSEPH NORVELL who died Jan. 9, 1847, who with his brother, Moses Norvell, established the NASHVILLE WHIG in 1812, which they sold in 1819; subsequently edited this newspaper but relinquished that job after four years; presented by the Journeymen Printers and Nashville Press, January 9, 1847.

WILLIAM HIGGINS, born Alabama, a law student, Transylvania College, Kentucky; died Lexington, Ky., Jan. 1, 1847.

MARY A. HAY daughter of Allen and Mary Johnson, born Mecklenburg Co., Va., Aug. 29, 1807; moved with parents to Tennessee; married Dr. John Hay, Dec. 23, 1828; joined Methodist Church, 1830; died recently; wife and mother (8 children, 5 surviving her).

NANCY W. MORAN died Mason Co., Ky., recently, aged 33 years and 5 months old. Her sister, LETTICE M. MORAN died. Nov. 11, 1846 aged 44 yrs., 11 mos.; both from pulmonary disease.

JAMES DOTY born Onslow Co., N.C., Feb. 10, 1778; "embraced religion", Maury Co., Tenn., 1810; died Oct. 7, 1846; left widow and several grandchildren.

HENRY FANCY born France, Oct. 15, 1774; came to America when about thirty years old; settled in Georgia where he married in November 1812; moved to Franklin Co., Tenn. where his wife died and he remarried Dec. 31, 1821; died Nov. 20, 1846 in the residence of John Ransom, Rutherford Co., Tenn., on his return from the Methodist Conference in Nashville.

NANCY HUGHES died Jefferson Co., Ky., Jan. 4, 1847 in the 63rd year of her age.

ELIZABETH H. HUBBARD, a young woman, died in Athens, Tenn., recently.

THOMAS BLAIR died Coffee Co., Tenn., Nov. 8, 1846 aged 73 years 7 mos. [1773]

ELIZABETH STARKES wife of Colonel L. R. Starkes, oldest child of Ezekial and Nancy Lindsey, born Sumner Co., Tenn., July 5, 1794; died Nov. 12, 1846; wife and mother (8 children)

LYDIA MOOREHEAD born March 3, 1775; married Joseph Moorehead, Sr., Jan. 3, 1793; died Dec. 24, 1846; a Baptist she was excommunicated in 1838 for having attended a Cumberland Presbyterian camp-meeting and joined the Methodist Church.

ARCHIBALD PEAVY died in residence of his father, Rev. Joshua Peavy, Wilcox Co., Ala., Oct. 27, 1846.

LUCY ANN B. ROBERTS, nee Poindexter, wife of Henry Roberts, died Dec. 10, 1846 aged 24 years.

AMANDA S. LANE wife of D. J. Lane, Fayette Co., Tenn., died Dec. 8, 1846 in the 38th year of her age; wife and mother (4 children).

ELIZABETH J. BAIN wife of Thomas J. Bain, daughter of John and Elizabeth Poague, died Trimble Co., Ky., Dec. 4, 1846 in the 28th year of her age.

BENJAMIN S. WALKER died Sept. 18, 1846 aged 8 years. His mother, WINNEY WALKER, died Nov. 2, 1846, Tishomingo Co., Miss.

Honorable URIAH MILLSAPS, native of Tennessee, died Jasper Co., Miss., Dec. 9, 1846.

MARTHA A. HARRIS daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Harris died Madison Co., Tenn., Oct. 20, 1846 in the 17th year of her age.

PHOEBE E. MURRELL wife of Z. H. Murrell died Franklin Co., Tenn., Dec. 5, 1846 in the 40th year of her age; Presbyterian (Cumberland).

THEOPHILUS C. REED son of Rev. S. Reed, Kentucky Conference, died in residence of his uncle, D. Dheals, Winchester, Va., Oct. 3, 1846 aged 10 years.

AMANDA S. LANE daughter of Marcus and Martha T. Roby died Fayette Co., Tenn., Dec. 8, 1846; wife and mother (10 children, 5 surviving her).

Mrs. ELIZABETH BLAGG died in residence of Rev. A. Graham, Jackson Co., Ark., Dec. 9, 1846 aged 80 years.

Mrs. ANN L. JORDAN wife of Samuel Jordan; daughter of Rev. Howell Taylor, died Montgomery Co., Tenn., Oct. 2, 1846 in the 64th year of her age.

JANE SPILLMAN wife of James H. Spillman died Keysburg, Ky., Dec. 3, 1846.

GLADY HANEY wife of James Haney died Sept. 15, 1846 in the 57th year of her age; moved from Lawrence Co., Ala. to Ittawamba Co., Mississippi.

MARY FRANCES WALTON wife of Thomas T. Walton died Greenville, Ky., Nov. 9, 1846 aged 21 years and 10 months old. [Oct. 19, 1825].

SARAH ANN ROBINSON dau Jesse and Arvenia Robinson; died McNairy Co., Tenn., Dec. 5, 1846.

MATILDA POWEL wife of John Powel; daughter of John Joyner, Southampton Co., Va.; Haywood Co., Tenn.; born 1797; married 1815; died Oct. 31, 1846; wife and mother (8 children).

ADAM TEAL died Jackson Co., Tenn., Nov. 10, 1846 in the 78th year of his age; a widower for two years; sixteen children.

PETER BARRETT, esq., died Harrison Co., Ky., Dec. 5, 1846 in the 72nd year of his age; moved to Ky.; magistrate and sheriff of Harrison Co. and served in the Kentucky legislature.

Rev. RICHARD R. BRIDGES born York District, S.C., June 20, 1800; oldest child of James and Nancy Bridges; educated in Mt. Vernon Academy in S.C.; when he was 16 years old his father died and he moved with his mother to Lawrence Co., Miss.; entered Methodist ministry; died "about" December 1, 1846.

FRANKLIN C. HEARD, Mobile, Ala., died Dec. 13, 1846; "esteemed gentleman."

"Brother" BRICHWEDEL, German missionary of Carrollton, Missouri, died of consumption, Jan. 1, 1847; born in Germany and came to U. S. when about 6 years old; entered Methodist ministry; a married man.

EMILY A. DRUMMOND died in residence of Reuben Reid, Sumpter Co., Ala., Dec. 29, 1846 aged 18 years, 5 months and 1 day old [July 28, 1828].

ELIZABETH COOPER oldest daughter of Win and Elizabeth Johnson, born Hinds Co., Miss., Nov. 23, 1829; married Kenneth Cooper, Aug. 19, 1846; died Dec. 22, 1846.

MINERVA DUNN daughter of George and Sarah Hays, Cape Girardeau, MO; wife of William Dunn; died in Shelby Co., Tenn., Dec. 5, 1846; wife and mother.

EMILY E. HARRIS daughter of Henry H. and Lucinda Harris, died Dec. 30, 1846 aged 11 months, 26 days [January 4, 1846]. Giles Co., Tenn.

JESSE BARNES died Benton Co., Tenn., Dec. 6, 1846.

LAYTON YANCY TEAGUE son of Abner and Martha C. Teague born Jackson, Tenn., Aug. 15, 1834; died Nov. 25, 1846, Jackson, Tenn.; "embraced" religion at Salem [Methodist Church and campground, Madison Co., Tennessee] last July.

CHARLOTTE GRIZZARD wife of James Grizzard died of a stroke, Jan. 30, 1847 in the 52nd year of her age; wife and mother.

AIME GUILLET, old resident of New Orleans, a former soldier under command of N. Bonaparte, died of "false pleurisy" "last week."

ELIZABETH P. RICHARDSON daughter of John and Mary Hopkins; born Goochland Co., Va.; married Samuel Richardson and moved to Rutherford Co., Tenn. in 1808; then to Gibson Co., Tenn. where she died Nov. 4, 1846 in the 61st year of her age. Joined Methodist Church in 1812.

NANCY JOHNSON wife of Colonel William Johnson, formerly of Rhea Co., Tenn., died near Little Rock, Ark., Jan. 25, 1847 in the 79th year of her age.

ELIZABETH COOPER born Sept. 16, 1747 or '48; brought up in the Church of England; married before the Revolutionary War; died Oct. 7, 1846 in Hickory Co., MO to which she had moved with her grandchildren from Simpson Co., Ky. about six years ago.

NATHAN SKINNER born Chowan Co., N.C., Jan. 29, 1779; married Nancy Pratt, 1803 and moved to Davidson Co., Tenn., in 1804; thence to Stewart Co., Tenn. where he died Oct. 28, 1846 of congestive fever; joined Methodist Church in 1836.

WILLIAM SEYMOUR, native of Monaghan Co., Ireland; took allegiance to U. S., Nov. 9, 1808; died Sumpter Co., Ala., Nov. 6, 1846 in the 87th year of his age. A Methodist before coming to America; had at least one son.

MARY JANE HUNTER daughter of Capt. William Bradford; wife of Silas Mercer Hunter, formerly of Sumner Co., Tenn.; died near Lexington, Miss., Nov. 29, 1846 in the 27th year of her age.

JAMES H. M. BARRINGTON, native of Rutherford co., Tenn., moved to Haywood Co., Tenn., then to Washington Co., Ark.; died [December] 1846 in 29th year of his age.

MILFORD W. FERGUSON born Jan. 17, 1819; died Nov. 6, 1846.

JUDITH C. MERRIWETHER wife of Joseph Merriwether, both natives of Virginia; died Bradley Co., Ark., Nov. 10, 1846 in 36th year of her age; wife and mother.

ANNA SCHROEDER wife of Charles H. Schroeder, St. Louis, MO; daughter of Dr. H. Y. Carter, Philadelphia; died [Dec.] 1846 aged 46 years.

Fly, presiding elder, Sharon District, born Chatham Co., N.C., Nov. 28, 1813; daughter of Willis Jones; moved with family to Maury Co., Tenn., fall of 1819; married March 24, 1831; experienced the hardships of being a preacher's wife; had one child, an infant. Died Sharon, Madison Co., Miss., Dec. 15, 1846.

LOUISIANA T. MILLER wife of Moses T. Miller; daughter of John S. and Mary Ferguson; born Nov. 26, 1817; died Calloway Co., MO, Jan. 5, 1847.

CHARLES LUCIAN TURNER son of Daniel B. Turner, formerly of Huntsville, Ala., died Nashville, Tenn., Feb. 6, 1847 in the 18th year of his age.

MARY ANN GIFFIN wf. of Wade Giffin; died Sevier Co., Ark., Nov. 7, 1846 aged 23 years; daughter of Stephen and Elizabeth Westbrook, formerly of Pike Co., Ark.

MARGARET A. McDANIEL daughter of John and Mary A. Brittenham; born Rutherford Co., Tenn., Nov. 27, 1826 but reared mostly in Gibson Co., Tenn., from which her parents moved to Osage Co., MO in the spring of 1842; married Preston McDaniel, Feb. 29, 1844. Died Oct. 27, 1846; left a son [unnamed] who was born November 14, 1846. Osage County, Missouri.

THOMAS F. BARNETT born Dec. 23, 1800; married Sarah S. Cox. Warren Co., Ky. when 23 years old; died. Dec. 11, 1846; not member of any church; surviving was his widow.

MARY BURGESS wife of Rev. William Burgess; born east Tenn. (county not known), March 10, 1771; married in 1804; moved to Ray Co., MO in 1839 where she died Oct. 31, 1846; seven children.

Colonel ROBERT PAINE, Tipton Co., Tenn., born May 17, 1785; died Jan. 13, 1847. His son, ROBERT PAINE, JR.; died Jan. 16, 1847 in the 16th year of his age.

ANNA RANDLE wife of Henry Randle died Stewart Co., Tenn., Oct. 21, 1846.

WILLIAM R. ALEXANDER born Union District, S.C., Dec. 10, 1821; died Weakley Co., Tenn., Nov. 22, 1846; moved with parents to Bedford Co., Tenn., 1830; then to Weakley County; joined Methodist Church, May 10, 1840; married Emaline J. Newman, Jan. 22, 1842; died Sept. 10, 1846.

THOMAS C. YANCY died in residence of Abner Teague, Jackson, Tenn., Jan. 21, 1847; a resident of Calloway Co, MO where his wife and two children lived; he died of pneumonia while on a business trip.

RHODA RICHARDSON wife of Benjamin Richardson died Jackson Co., Tenn., December 1846.

JULIA WHITESIDES died Charitan Co., MO, January 1, 1847 aged 25 years.

WILLIAM DILLON, aged 84 years, died in residence of his son-in-law, Hugh R. Bradley, near Dixon's Springs, Tenn., Jan. 16, 1847; became a Christian in Caroline Co., Va. and joined the Baptist Church; survived by widow and their progeny.

CALEB BRASSFIELD born Granville Co., N.C., March 10, 1799; died Weakley Co., Tenn., Dec. 19, 1846; active Methodist layman.

DIANA SPEARS daughter of William and Sarah Keys of the Cherokee Nation, died Dec. 5, 1846 aged about 28 years; her father died about 7 years ago; her firstborn son died about 2 years ago; in January 1846 her sisters, Mary and Angeline, also died.

MARTHA GUNTER daughter of Rev. Edward Gunter (who died April 17, 1842), died in the residence of her brother-in-law, Judge Riley Keys, Cherokee Nation, Nov. 17, 1846 aged 11 years and 6 months old.

MARTHA COLLIER wife of S. M. Collier; daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Sugg; died Carroll Co., Ark., Oct. 30, 1846 aged 17 years, 8 months, 22 days [February 8, 1829].

ANN ELIZA BIBB wife of James Bibb; daughter of Thomas and Martha Anderson; born Chesterfield Co., Va., Nov. 18, 1811; died December 1846.

SOPHIA J. WRIGHT wife of Rev. D. W. Wright; died Navarro Co., Texas, Nov. 12, 1846; professed religion in Giles Co., Tenn. in the 14th year of her age; wife and mother (3 children).

ELIZABETH J. CHANDLER wife of John W. Chandler; died December 29, 1846; one child.

THOMAS BURGESS son of Ira E. Burgess, Athens, Miss., died New Orleans, La., Jan. 23, 1847; a volunteer soldier from Monroe Co., Miss. under command of Capt. J. M. Aiker, on the way to war in Mexico.

BENJAMIN G. DURANT died of scarlet fever, Jan. 27, 1847 aged 11 years. [Lauderdale Co., Tenn.]

JOHN BUCHANAN born 1801; joined Methodist Church, Sept. 1827; moved from east Tenn. to Ark. in 1830 where he died, Washington County, January 9, 1847.

REBECCA EVANS wife of George M. Evans, born Rockingham Co., N.C., May 5, 1813; married Mar. 13, 1833; moved to Benton Co., Tenn., 1845 and died Jan. 31, 1847; wife and mother (4 children)

WILLIAM LYON died December 12, 1846 in 50th year of his age. Methodist. [Henry Co., Tenn.] [Captain William Lyon, born in Maryland, Nov. 1791, moved from Granville Co., N.C. to Henry Co., Tenn., 1824; militia captain, 1827-1832, and farmer; member of Walnut Fork Methodist Church; his widow, Martha Turner Lyon, died in 1847. ELIZA JANE SEWEL died in December 1846; joined Methodist Church at campmeeting, Henry Co., Tenn.

JOHN C. BENNATT son of William T. and Kitty C. Bennatt, born Feb. 22, 1823; married Nancy Holladay, 1843; died Nov. 5, 1846; husband and father (1 child).

MARTHA CAMPBELL daughter of Daniel and Elizabeth Hardaway, wife of James N. Campbell; born Nottoway Co., Va., Jan. 27, 1818; died Coffee Co., Tenn., Dec. 11, 1846; wife and mother (5 children). Her last words were, "Thank God I am not afraid to die." Married July 18, 1838

JACOB GROVE born Lancaster Co., Pa., April 30, 1803; moved to Kentucky, 1813; to Montgomery Co., Tenn., 1815; in 1834 to Hardeman Co., Tenn.; joined Methodist Church, 1836; died Jan. 12, 1847 having suffered from "liver complaint" for twenty years.

AGNESS CLARDY daughter of John and Mary Booth; born Amelia Co., Va., Nov. 17, 1755; married Benjamin Clardy, June 25, 1771; joined Methodist Church summer of 1776; moved to Bedford Co., Va., then to Laurens District, S.C., then to Pendleton District, S.C., and in 1816 to Franklin Co., Tenn. where her husband died in 1823. She died Jan. 17, 1847; her children and "connection are numerous."

The mother of B. A. HAYES, Trenton, Tenn., died February 2, 1847.

SUSAN B. POOR wife of William Poor; died Logan Co., Ky., Dec. 26, 1846 in the 45th year of her age and 28th year as a Methodist.

SUSAN D. BARNHILL daughter of James and Susan Hart, born July 28, 1830; married John B, Barnhill, Sept. 24, 1846; died Henderson Co., Tenn., Dec, 25, 1846; no children.

WILLIAM C. BROWDER born in Va., 1800; joined Methodist Church, 1818; died Logan Co., Ky., Feb. 9, 1847.

Rev. JOHN GLANVILLE, native of England, St. Louis Conference, died Feb. 4, 1847; Methodist preacher; husband and father (10 children).

DAVID ROBERTSON born Prince Edward Co., Va., June 27, 1767; joined Methodist Church, 1838; died Jan. 22, 1847; had moved to Camden Co., MO, 1839. "His prospects were not as brilliant as could have been wished but he died in peace and in hope of heaven."

SARAH ROBERTSON born Sumner Co., Tenn., May 21, 1803; married Rev. John Robertson, July 4, 1833; died Jan. 30, 1847; wife and mother (3 children); moved to MO in 1839.

WASHINGTON J. SIMPSON born Giles Co., Tenn., March 29, 1816; died Jan. 21, 1847. Green Co., Ark.

Reported in the NORTH CAROLINA NEWBERNIAN that MORTIMER BRIGHT, esq., married Rebecca Simpson, Pensacola, Florida, in the morning of Nov. 11, 1846 and he died early that evening, aged 42 years and 5 months [June 1804].

Rev. G. KELLY, Kentucky Conference, died March 6, 1847; husband and father (4 children).

Colonel BENJAMIN SHERROD born Halifax Co., N.C.; educated at William and Mary College; had lived in Georgia but the last 20 years had lived near Courtland, Alabama; died Feb. 24, 1847 in the 71st year of his age. During the War of 1812 he was a supply contractor for the U. S. Army.

JASON NEELY died of congestive chills, Franklin, Ky., April 19, 1847 aged 23 years, 2 months [February 1824].

Dr. GEORGE WESLEY WILKERSON born Montgomery Co., Tenn., July 20, 1812; moved to Somerville, Tenn., 1835; Cumberland Presbyterian; married Mrs. Sarah B. Wood, Whiteville, Tenn., Nov. 20, 1843; died Mar. 21, 1847; husband and father (1 son).

INFORMATION WANTED. FRANKLIN PORTMAN, aged about 19 years, son of George Portman, who married a Miss Whiton and moved to La. about 25 years ago (both of whom died of cholera); last heard of Franklin was that he was in St. Helene Parish, La. His grandfather, John Portman, Bellefontaine, Miss. wanted to know of his whereabouts.
