This database contains cemetery surveys and transcriptions from a number of counties across the state of Tennessee. It contains all cemeteries in the US Geological Survey for Tennessee as well as several cemeteries that are not identified by the USGS. Northern Cemetery is a well-maintained cemetery off Crooked Creek Road in northwestern Perry County, Tennessee. Four unidentified graves are marked with fieldstones and perhaps an equal number have temporary marker plates without information. Five identical concrete marker blanks (four in a mostly Faulkner row) once had painted information. These are unreadable in 2004; three were at least partially read in the 1990s. Another painted concrete block of a different style was identifiable but almost unreadable in 2004. There are a few more unmarked graves.
David Donahue recorded Northern Cemetery March 3, 2001 and checked and updated it September 22, 2004. Mary (Stewart) Bowen and Melissa (Snyder) Bowen recorded the cemetery in the early 1990s. Their record appears in Mary Bowen's Perry County, Tennessee Cemetery Records (Vol. I). This earlier record is referred to as Bowen in the notes below.

The burial and cemetery information contained in the TNGenNet Cemetery Database is taken from a variety of sources. Most of it comes from actual surveys of cemetery headstones. Some is taken from obituaries published in newspapers, death certificates and other sources. All of these sources including headstones are subject to error. The transcription process introduces unavoidable human error. The researcher is urged to consult the original source for the most accurate information.
