Contributing to the TNGenWeb Cemetery Database

You can contribute to the TNGenWeb Cemetery Database in a variety of ways.

Submit your research

The TNGenWeb is open to contributions of your research whether you have surveyed a small family cemetery or a large group of cemeteries. By contributing to the TNGenWeb Cemetery Database, you can be assured that your research will be made available for future researchers on a free access basis. It is a great way to preserve your hard work for the benefit of future generations. In order to facilitate the transfer of your research to the database, two templates are available that can be used to submit your cemetery surveys:

• Microsoft Word template
• Microsoft Excel template

Just click on the template links above to open or save a copy to your computer. Please be patient while the template downloads.

The instructions for completing the templates are included in the template. Just complete one for each cemetery and email for inclusion in the TNGenWeb Cemetery Database. The template includes space to reference any headstone pictures that you care to contribute. Cemetery pictures are also welcomed. Please email the pictures along with the completed template for uploading to the TNGenWeb Cemetery Database.

If your research is available in a different electronic format, please send me a sample for an assessment as to whether your format can be imported into the cemetery database. Please use the standard template if at all possible.

Coordinate a county

The work of the TNGenWeb Cemetery Database is only possible through the work of our many volunteers. We still have many counties without coordinators to help locate, gather, transcribe and proof read material for these counties. If you are interested in coordinating the cemetery database for a particular county, please contact me.

Help in other ways
