My father always said that his great grandmother was Cherokee...Ihave just recieved his grandmother's death cert. and next to the namenancy PHIPPS, his great grandmother, it says Cherokee. My Great Grandfather is Green Berry Tracy. He was documented on hisbirth certificate as being born in Macon, county Tennessee between1854 and 1856. I am looking for any information on him or hisfamily. They might have relocated to Georgia after he was born whereit is told his family was killed during the Civil War. I know nonames on his parents, and he might have had an older sister. AnyTracy history from that day in time might give our family hope!Thanks.

I would like to know where I could get a map of the Hiwassee districtwhich is one of the districts that had indian reservations forselected individuals in eastern Tennessee as a result of theCherokee/US treaties of 1817-19. This would be in eastern tennessee. I was told the Tennessee Valley Athority had such old maps. I couldnot find anything on their web site
