I am looking for information regarding Matthew Ransom, 2nd TennesseeInfantry Division, CSA, who fought and died at the Battle of Shiloh,April 6, 1862. I am also looking for information on the monumenterected at Shiloh, near the Shiloh Church, in memory of the 2nd TNInfantry, ie. Who erected the monument and when? I believe MatthewRansom to be one of my ancestors but find very little informationregarding this man or his regiment.The unit fought there on both daysof the battle and susatined very high casualties. Matthew's name ison the monument with other members of Co. D,2nd TN infantry, Bate'sRegiment, General Cleburne's Brigade. She married a Pleman SKIENS OR SKEEN and theymigrated to Lampassas Co.,Tx. where they showed up on 1860 censuswith 4 children and then on 1870 census were gone and 3 of 4 childrenshowed up in different homes. Seeking lineage on BAILEY (BALEY, BAILY) and RENFRO (RENFROE,RENFROW). Found on various rolls from 1800s and 1900s. Trying todetermine if a link to John Cleveland Bailey (m Lena Renfro) in Texasmid 1900s.

WINSTON, WINSTEAD
My great grandfather was Samuel WINSTON (WINSTEAD) born somewhere inTN in 1819. We know nothing of his parentage. His wife wasFrances Ann SMITH of Yazoo County, Mississippi. As clues to hisparents' names, I list the given names of their children: JohnHenry, Samuel James, Charles Marshall, Mary Elizabeth, BenjaminFranklin, and Ellis Green WINSTEAD. This family spent theirremaining years in Yazoo County, MS. Would be grateful for anyresponses.
