My mother told me that my
ggggrandfather (maternal grandmother'smaternal grandmother's father)
was Chief CROW FOOT, and that hemarried a Mennonite woman and had a
daughter who married HenryBartlett ROSE of the Scottish Rose clan.
They in turn had adaughter, Mary Maud ROSE, my great-grandmother.My

I just discovered my HARPER line has roots in
Tennessee --unfortunately, I don't know where. In particular, I am
looking forthe family of a Blaney Harper. The death cert of his son
statesBlaney married an Elizabeth GRIFFIN.Their son, James W Harper,
was born in Tennessee on 15 May 1849.He and his family (?) later
moved to Arkansas where he married LauraScott. James W Harper died 11

My grandfather served in the civil war as a
doctor. His name wasJames Monroe Gilbert. I believe he served in
the Nixon regement. Hisfamily was from Bethel,Tenn and I believe had
a plantation and woolenmills. Family history has it that their
parents were killed by theirslaves and the brothers done away with
the slaves when they returnedfrom the war. His brother was a doctor
also. We went to Bethel afew years ago and thought we had found the
family cemetery, but mybrother went back a few years later and
learned that it was the blackGilbert cemetery that we had found
earlier. That is about all I knowof his history. If you can help any
with this please let me know. Iam a novice at this as you can
probably tell. Thanks

cousins whose maiden names were Colletta andSharon George.
They are sisters. Their father's name was ColbertGeorge. My
great-grandmother was Hannah George Martin. These girlscame to the
Martin reunion in the 60's. They moved to Texas withtheir parents

We have a family tale that one of my ancestors
bought an IndianPrincess who was being sold into slavery. (late
1700's to mid 1800's)They fell in love and were married. I do not
