DAVISSEEKING INFORMATION ON JOHN DAVIS

Seeking information on John DAVIS and family, born in VA in 1784 anddied in Madison Co., MS in 1833. Wife and siblings are unknown. Children were: John, Jr., George Washington, Patrick, Samuel A.,Susan, Mary and Lizzie (Elizabeth?) All children born in VA. It ismost probable that John and family left VA between 1809 and 1833. Itis known that part of the family resided in TN for a period. Mary,e.g., married Edward LUCY while in TN and later moved to MS, around1834. I have been told that Montgomery and Stewart Counties werewhere they resided while in TN. I find this possible but difficultto accept since to me the most logical trip to MS would have beendown the Natchez Trace and not central TN, The Trace runs throughMadison Co., MS. Without maps, they may not have known that. On theother hand, the family may have intended to remain in TN and leftafter the lure of more land grants. I would appreciate hearing fromanyone that can direct me to finding more about this family. Johnwas my GGG

ASHLEY AND JOHNSON

Delta Mae Ashley: born 9-28-1914; or, 9-28-1917 somewhere in Easternor Middle Tennessee. Daughter of "Dosh"(?) Ashley and Maggie MaeJohnson. Delta Mae "Jane" was my paternal grandmother. I have littleto no information on any of these people other than the storiesconveyed by her before her death. Maggie Mae Johnson died eitherduring my grandmother's birth; or, shortly thereafter. "Dosh" (?)Ashley was said to be a German immigrant who returned to Germany onthe outbreak of the First World War; although the spelling of thename "Ashley" does not reflect German lineage and I am not certain ofthe spelling on "Dosh/Dausch"(?) The story of his departure couldsimply be an honourable and acceptible explanation for his neverreturning. Anyways, any information regarding Delta Mae Ashley,"Dosh"(?) Ashley, and Maggie Mae Johnson would certainly be welcomedand appreciated.
