APPLEWHITE

I am looking for help with identifying a family that once lived inthe state of Tennesse. According to census enumerations in Texas,Horace Arthur APPLEWHITE lived in an unknown county in Tennesseebetween the years of ca.1840 and ca.1855. During this time hefathered at least three, possibly four, children. Their names wereArthur (b.ca.1840), Mary (b.ca.1842), and Ella (b.ca.1852). Arthur isconsistently reported to have been born in Virginia and married to anunknown woman from Maryland. In both the census and other historicaldocuments from Texas, Horace Arthur is reported to be a physician. Iam hoping that someone will recognize these names and/or dates and beable to assist me in locating possible Tennessee counties withinwhich to do further research. TIA - Herman

LEATHERS, REYNOLDS, RUNELS

I am looking for more information which will prove our NativeAmerican ancestry; which I believe to be Cherokee. My Great-Grandfather on mymother's side was Nathan Nimrod LEATHERS, born on Feb 14th, 1871 inItawamba, MS. He died on June 6, 1919 in Itawamba, MS. He wasmarried somewhere in Tennessee in 1886 to Mary Caroline ElizabethREYNOLDS. She was born on the 23rd Nov, 1871 in Hawkins County,Tennessee. She died in 1954 in Fisk, MO. Her father was JohnReynolds who died around 1920. It is believed that the Cherokeeheritage was from the REYNOLDS side of the family. It was also notcompletely clear which way REYNOLDS was spelled; it may have beenRUNELS. Pictures of my Great-Grandmother indicate a strong NativeAmerican ancestry.
