I was wondering if anyone has the names of William
and Mary (Harris)Woods' children. I'm particularly interested in any
William WoodsandJames Woods who show up down the line. Family
lore indicates myggrandfather's went by initials (J.C., J.F., etc)
but was calledJim."Jim was born about 1850 and his wife was
supposedly named Barbara Foxor Cox . Their son, my grandfather was a
Leroy, called Roy, Woods, born in 1878 supposedly in Greeneville TN,
but there is no record onhim for the 1880 Greene County Census. And,
lest I forget, "Jim's"father was named William, and both William and
"Jim" were supposedlypreachers. Any of this ring any bells? Thanks

In researching my Cherokee heritage: my
grandmother Lena Mae DRAKEwho I believe was born in McMinnville (or
very close by) in 1898 (Ithink). She was from a large family. I
remember two sisters names(Sofie and Phoebe). She is said to be a
half-blood Cherokeedescendent. She married Sheridan Wesley HOLLAND in
the early 1920s;however, I don't know if they married in Tennessee.
My grandpa,Sheridan Wesley HOLLAND, is said to be a full-blood
Cherokeedescendent and born in Texas in 1902 (I think). I searched a
littleon the Dawes Rolls for my paternal great-grandpa, Jesse
WorthyHOLLAND without luck. My grandparents lived in Park Hill,
Oklahomamany years until grandpa's death in 1978. I think I have a
2nd cousinfrom Tennessee: Tom DRAKE. Any information about the
DRAKE's havingany relation/heritage with the Cherokee Nation is
appreciated.
