The1860 Cumberland Co. Census has a John BRITT MOYERS listed at age 53with a wife LILITHA- and 5 children Andrew J.,James M.,Columbus,Johnand Mary E. My family history has Margaret as being a Choctaw and herfamily possibly still hiding from the Removal Act. Is this why JohnBRITT may have changed his name? A postscript to the 1860 census saysthat the census takers spelling was careless. Even if this is thecase I would like to know anything about John BRITT(MOYERS) &Tellitha BRITT(MOYERS). Margaret later married Headly(Hedley) TURNER I'm trying to prove N.A. lineage to properly honor my ancestors andto pass down this tradition to my children.
