Where would I go to find a TN marriage record
dating from the early1790's? Richard SMITH allegedly married Alicia
COMBS in the vicinityof Long Island about 1792. They then emigrated
westward and settledon the N. Fork of the Kentucky River near
present-day Hazard; many,many of their descendants live there today.
Would the record oftheir marriage be in VA, NC, or Franklin? Thanks

My grandfather, John C.
White, was born in Sullivan Co. Tn in 1878. He married Eliza Wallen
in Wise Co., Va. in 1900. They had a leastone son, Barney

Jesse Self married Mary Narramore in Bledsoe
Co., TN 02/16/1812. Wereother Selfs in the area about 1790-1820?
Jesse was reputedly born09/24/1782 in Granville Co., NC, although I
have been unable toverify these data. He may have been born in East
TN before statehoodwhen it was still considered part of NC. Parents
or siblings forJesse have not yet been found, although several
(perhaps brothers orcousins) followed the same migration patten he
did. Mary and Jessehad 12 children born in Bledsoe Co., TN; Jefferson
Co., AL; andHabersham & Walker Co's., GA. I have traced many of their
descendants(over 3,100 persons, including spouses) and will be glad
to swapinfo. My line is through their 7th child, Joseph L. Self, who

Any information on ELISHAbefore 1799 is vitally important to
