I am looking for any information on my paternal
grandfather's family.His name is Charley Jones HALEY , married to
Nancy Angeline JONES. Ancestors for both definitely came from Shelby
County, TN, relocatingin Yell County, Arkansas in the 1880's or
1890's. Ancesters on theHALEY side should show several Walter or
Walter C. HALEY's. TheJONES family is definitely Cherokee. I know
name of Nancy A JONESfather is Sam JONES Jr (definitely full blood
Cherokee), so the nextelder should probably be a Sam JONES, SR, but I
don't know for sure. I know Sam JONES, Jr married in 1884 so was
probably born around1864. Any information, traces, or leads would be

abt. 1780 in Marylandwho married Rachel Shipley b. abt. 1784 in

William Stephens, born ca.1704, NC, m. Mary Sampson. William fought
in the French and Indianand the Revolutionary War, and was at the
siege of Charteston, SC. He was granted 2,260 acres of land in
Anderson Co., TN, in 1783 as areward for his services. He possibly
had a son named SampsonStephens, born ca. 1736, who I am also seeking
