I have just visited Boone's Creek. I was looking
for the locationwhere William Bean of "first family" fame first
settled. Believe me! It was a challenge. I finally found the marker
at a busyintersection which stated that Bean settled 1.6 miles to the
east ofthe marker. I asked about a dozen people before a gentlemen
was ableto help me. I found what was supposed to be left of a Bean
building. It was on private property very near the Creek. I could
barely seethe sign that was posted above the door of the cabin, but I
couldmake out something about BEAN. Does anyone know the
significance ofthis building or if this might indeed be a building
relating to theBEANS of "first family" fame? I can't believe that
this would not be dignated a historic site. With the development that
is going on, I feel that this significantarea will soon be
obscure.
