David Jackson married Sarah Low on 2-11-1819. The
Marriage Bond,License and Certificate as recorded in Carter Co, does
not list anyother family members. I have connected David as a son of
WilliamJackson and Barsheba (surname unknown) through a will. I
have notbeen able to locate anything on Sarah Low. David Jackson and
SarahLow were in Campbell Co, TN by 1830 and raised a large family.
David's sister Catherine Jackson Married William Heatherly in
CarterCo on 6-6-1816 and were also in Campbell Co, TN by 1830.
Anyinformation on the Low and Jackson families, especially pre 1830
inCarter Co will be appreciated.

MCELWEE. James was a residentof the lost State on Frankin and was
said to have had a home near theWatauga Settlement. He joined the
Over Mountainmen and fought at thebattle of King's Mountain. He is
listed in Ramsey's History ofTennessee, where the spelling of his
name was originally in error.After the war he moved westward in
Tennessee and lived in RoaneCounty. He first married Nancy Johnston

There is a family history
I found that begins with the accoun ofJacob BROWN from NC that in the
mid 1700's settled the areas of thepresent Greene and Washington
Co.'s TN. I have found plenty of booksand records of a Jacob BROWN
that fits this description but of yet Ihave no information about his

When did Matthew and
Polly MASSINGALE (many different spellings)come to TN from NC? Their
son, Matthew, was in an 1810 census ofAshe Co. NC, then 1820 census
of White Co. Matthew and Polly werein 1830 Anderson Co. Census.
Prior to that, only can find thefamily in 1781 and 1782 in Halifax VA
and Nash Co. NC records. Wherewere they between 1782 and 1830?
Dempsey and James were also inthe 1810 census of Ashe Co., but in
none before, and none after. Ibelieve they were just passing through,
to join the other familymembers in TN. Can anyone help?

I am looking for my direct ancestors who
were in Tennessee in the1780s and 1790s (possibly even the 1770s). If
you recognize thesurnames GRIZZEL, RIDDLE or INGRAM please contact
me. I would love totrade information. I know that Harriett "Happy"
RIDDLE came to whatis now Tennessee in 1783 or 1784 and married
William "Bill" INGRAMwho had been in Tennessee for 15 years prior.
Harriett died soonafter in 1784.William GRIZZEL was in the American
Revolution and signed up fromwestern North Carolina and was later
noted to be in Tennessee. Hisdaughter Anna GRIZZEL married Isaac
RIDDLE in either Russell orHawkins County, Tennessee 21 May 1801 (I
would like to confirm whichcounty). Anna GRIZZEL was born in Wilkes
County, North Carolina 18July 1784. Was that part of what is now
Tennessee?Does anyone know anything about the organization, The First
Familiesof Tennessee?I also have REEDs in Tennessee in the early
1800s and they might havebeen there in the 1700s.

I am seeking the parents of my gggrandfather,
William MILLS, born1799, youngest of 13 children of Quaker parents.
The family probablyarrived with the MILLS family which founded the
Lost Creek MM Quakerchurch in Jefferson Co. in 1784. William lived in
Sevier Co. butmarried Rebecca SUMMER in Jefferson Co. in 1819 and
fathered James,Mahala, and Mary Anne (Polly) before Rebecca died. He
next marriedMartha Patsy ROUTH in Knox Co. in 1833 and fathered John,
Nancy,William, Lafayette, Naomi, and Rhoda. He ran a mill and farmed
till1860 when he left for TX and ranched.
