This is Solomon Fouts he was a slave owner and business man, He married Sarah Jane Couch who was his Indian slave. Children were Nancy Caroline, Mary Adaline, Dolphus Irvin, David D, Julia Ann and John. All Children were freed at birth and lived a very privilege life. Half of his land was in Polk, Tn and Murray Co.
After Sarah’s death he married a woman named Minerva Ellen Couch, their children were Mary Jane, Sarah E, Nancy Elizabeth, Emeline “Vina”, James M., Benjamin Franklin, Richard Columbus, Minerva Ellen.
When the Yankees came thru during the Civil war they tried to hang him but did not do it correctly. This family has a letter from Solomon to David D Fouts talking about the incident. It is known that he left during the Civil War,,,,Married a woman named Fanny Brown and had a son named Walter W. Fouts…which was married 3x- One of the marriages was to his cousin C.C. Arthur which was a daughter to Julia Ann Fouts
