Obion County Cemeteries
Cemeteries preceded by Vol.1 or Vol. 2 are in Cemeteries of Obion County, Copyright and Published by Obion County Genealogical Society, 1986 and 1990, Obion County Historical Society, P. O. Box 241, Union City, TN 38261. Other listings, locations and descriptions are added as contributed by volunteers. (HBCC = Hardee Boys Coffee Club)
"The Obion Co Historical Society set out several years to transcribe all of the county cemeteries. It was to be a four volume set. They only finished two volumes and then quit. I have both volumes and would be happy to do a lookup for you if you will send me the names you are interested in. The books do not list a specific cemetery for the flu epidemic victims so I assume that Obion Co. did like counties here in MO and people buried their dead in whatever cemetery they preferred. I know that in the mid 1800 smallpox epidemic there were, in some places, specific cemeteries set aside just for those victims.
The Obion Co. Historian is Judge Alan Nohsey in Union City TN. He might know if there was a special cemetery set aside for flu victims. You could probably reach him c/o the Obion Co. Courthouse, Union City, TN 38261. Virginia Greene <vcgreene@att.net>

trying to restore this cemetery. It took
4 weeks to cut trees and growth and several tombstones were found
plus many unmarked graves. They are
trying to identify who is in the graves. They think the
only thing we will be able to do is place some sort of
marker then level up the graves so it can be easily mowed. This
cemetery goes back to the slavery days.

The transcription for Walnut Grove Cem in is Vol 1 of the
Cemeteries of Obion Co. I have both Vol 1 and 2 if anyone needs a
lookup. There is also a Walnut Grove (black) cem adjacent to the
other one but has only a few stones with names on them. This
transcription is in the book that was done in 1986 so would not
contain more recent burials.

Cemetery sits to south back off the Max Osborne Rd up on the side of a high hill & is clearly visible from road and reasonably well kept. I estimate 100-200 grave sites in the cemetery.
