Record of the Graves of Mt. Ararat Cemetery - Row Order

Beginning in the South East corner of the Cemetery allowing 10 feet for passway north of south line. the rows of the graves are numbered from the East toward the West. the graves and lots from south toward North.

No dates in book. All dates added from contributors and on-sight readings. Some names are in a beautiful old style writing and others are different. It may be that David Crockett Burnett entered many of these as he contacted people to contribute to the trust fund for care of the old cemetery.
The cemetery is essentially in 3 parts.
The old part (see picture) behind the building is owned by the Cumberland Presbyterian Synod. Second, is the Burnett Private Cemetery facing the Troy-Hickman road and separated from the building by a driveway. Third, is behind the private cemetery, opened in the early 1940's. The Burnett's owned this land and opened it by subscription, forming a trust fund for perpetual care. After the death of David Crockett Burnett, the trust fund passed to his nephew. Several years later The Mt. Ararat Cemetery Association (not the church) bought additional land from the nephew. In turn he released the accumulated funds (abt. $3000) and the care of the Burnett cemetery areas to the Cemetery Association. Since then the Association has endeavored to increase the funds for the care of the grounds. The grounds are beautifully kept all year long. You are Welcome to attend Decoration Day & Cemetery Meeting day, 3rd Sunday in May.
