POWELL
FAMILY REUNION
September 3, 2006

The 22nd
annual reunion will be held on Labor Day Weekend with the big meal being held on
SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 3, 2006 AT NOON AT NORRIS DAM STATE PARK.
The
gathering will be held in the "Craft Room" which is located in the park office
complex at the West entrance to the park.
For those
of you who need directions to this area of the park, take Exit 128 - Lake City -
from I-75 Hwy 441 to the West Entrance to the park office complex 2.8 miles on
the left.
Bring
food, old pictures, family records and genealogy information to share. Tom
Powell will have the new book "From the Lowlands of Wales to the Mountains of
Tennessee" for purchase. The book will be $75.00 if you pick it up at the
reunion. If you want it shipped to you, there will be $10.00 charge for
that making the total $85.00.
The
Powell family consists of the descendants of Joseph and Mary Ann Summer Powell
of the Pine Orchard Community, Morgan County, Tennessee. Rhodes and Nancy
Hodge Powell were the parents of Joseph Powell. Joe's children were
Charlie, Ernest, Frankie, John, Levi, Rube and Vesta. We have also
expanded to the descendants of the other children of Rhodes Powell. This
year we have several descendants of Martha Powell Melhorn planning to
attend. All Powell's and friends of the Powell's are invited to attend the
reunion. There are only 6 in the oldest generation still living
and 3 of them are 90 or older. The oldest is Charles Vigle Johnson,
age 99, and lives in Arizona. Leila Belle Powell Doerflein is 92 and
lives in Indiana. Mary Powell Cate is 90 and lives
in Ohio.
We
also have descendants of "other Powell's" (10-12 sets) attend who are
working on their genealogy and everyone is sharing
information. We welcome all "Powell's".
