BABB, HELEN ROGERS - known affectionately as 'Mama Babb', age 88, a former resident of Coalfield, went to be with the Lord Sunday, October 2, 2005 at Portsbridge Hospice in Riverdale, Georgia. She was born July 6, 1917 in Lenoir City and was the daughter of John and Minnie Hensley Rogers, both deceased. She and her husband, the late Rev. Harold W. Babb lived in Oak Ridge between the 1940s and 1960s. Their ministry with the Church of God took them to many cities and states, before retiring to the Coalfield Community in 1988. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Babb is preceded in death by: her daughter, Erma Jean Babb; and son, Ralph G. (Jerry) Babb. Survivors: children, James Babb & wife, Jeanette of Coalfield, Richard Babb & wife, Debbie of Fayetteville, Georgia, Larry Babb & wife, Susan of Mt. BABINSKI, FREDA HOWARD, 54, McEwen, Tenn., passed away Monday, Oct. 31, 2005 after a short illness. Her favorite pastime was helping veterans. She was a published poet and loved her God who was and still foremost in her life. She was preceded in death by her father, Cager D. Howard. She is survived by husband, Lyle Stanley Babinski of McEwen; mother, Lois Howard Blaschak, also known as Jenny Wren of Lancing; sister, Louise Whitson and husband Curtis of Lancing; two nieces, Audrey Korgan and Angela Benton; and many other friends and relatives. Funeral services will be held Wednesday evening at 8 p.m. in Schubert Funeral Home Chapel, Wartburg, with Bro. Rick Taylor officiating. BADASKI, JANET MURHY, A memorial service for Janet Murphy Badaski, 55, was held in Ervine, Calif., on Oct. 23, 2005, with Rev. Paul Uhlar officiating.She was born in Harriman on June 12, 1950, and passed away on Oct. 13. She moved with her family to Calif. in 1957 and graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in La Palma, Calif. She worked as an office manager.  At the time of her death, she lived in Huntington Harbor, Calif. She died suddenly of a heart attack. She was very special and had lots of friends and loved ones. She was a good golfer and played quite often with her husbandShe was preceded in death by her father, James Ralph Murphy: paternal grandmother: Goldie Murphy; uncle: James K. BAILEY, HERBERT AUSTIN, 57, of East Ridge, died on Sunday, November 7, 2004. Mr. Bailey was an active member of Highland Park Baptist Church. He was an usher, volunteer at WDYN Radio, a former Sunday School teacher for nineteen years and a lay preacher at Union Gospel Mission for sixteen years. He is survived by his wife, Darlene Blake Bailey; parents, Herbert and Jeanette Degeare Bailey, Festus, MO; two sisters, Myra June Bailey, St. Louis, MO, and Carla Bailey, Upper Marlboro, MD. Dr. David Bouler and Rev. Guy Templeton will conduct the service on Wednesday, at 10 a.m. in Asbury Chapel of Highland Park Baptist church. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. on Wednesday in the Asbury Chapel of Highland Park Baptist Church.  Interment will be in Rankins Chapel Cemetery, Oakdale, Tennessee. BAKER, RYAN, precious son of Roger and Angela Baker, was born and went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005. Ryan is the little brother of Alycia and Matthew Baker. Ryan is the grandson of Larry and Phyllis Mutz of Lancing and Dulath and Jean Baker of Columbia, Ky., and the great-grandson of Hazel May and the late RC May of Wartburg, Henry Mutz and the late Marie Mutz of Palmdale, Calif., Zada Sneed and the late Lemon Sneed of Columbia, Ky., and the late Dewey and Iva Baker of Columbia, Ky. Ryan is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Jody and Michele Durham, Steve and Jesse Mutz of Lancing and Bryan and Misty Baker of Greenville, Ky., Bradley and Cheryl Karnes of Columbia, Ky., and many cousins. BALES, JAMES ISSAC, 81, Coalfield, passed away Monday, Sept. 25, 2006 in his home. He was born Feb. 5, 1925 in Coalfield, living several years in Hazard, Ky., and eight years in Detroit, Mich., before moving back to the Coalfield.Mr. Bales was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Coalfield. He was a loving husband, father and pap-paw. He loved Coalfield and was very civic minded and was a member of the 1941 Coalfield Six Man State Championship Football Team. He was a strong supporter of the Coalfield High School and their sports programs, also a strong supporter of the Coalfield Little League Baseball and Football Teams. In addition Jim was an avid gardener.He was a United States Army veteran who served his country during World War II, receiving several decorations including one Bronze Star, Parachutist's Badge, Victory Metal and World War II Ribbon. He had worked at Brushy Mountain State Prison as a Security Officer from 1969 until his retirement in 1991. He had also owned and operated Bales Esso Station of Coalfield for several years. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bert William and Ida Lee McGlothin Bales; and brother, Bert William Bales, Jr. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Willie T.E. Wilson Bales of Coalfield; son, James William Bales and wife Denise of Coalfield; daughter, Rebecca Anne Treece and husband Kyle of Coalfield; grandchildren, David Treece and wife Stacy of Coalfield, Tiffany Denise McConkey and husband Drew of Panama City, Fla., James Bryant Bales of Knoxville and Adam Doughty of Coalfield; great-grandsons, Ian Christian Blalock of Panama City, Fla., and Luke William Treece of Coalfield; and a host of extended family members and very special friends. BALES, LAURA ROSE LANGLEY - born July 17, 1934 in Lancing, a lifelong resident of the Sunbright-Deer Lodge area, passed away March 4, 2005 following a long illness. BANKS, JESSE PAUL, went to be with the Lord, Oct. 25, 2002 at the age of 76.  He was the son of Jesse Florence and Mamie Banks. He was born April 20, 1926 in Newnan, Ga. He was a faithful member of Mossy Grove Primitive Baptist Church.  He served the church in many capacities, such as song leader, clerk, tape ministry and others.  His love of the Lord was an encouragement to others.  The church will miss him.  He was a veteran of World War II. He was wounded in action and received a Purple Heart for his service to his country.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Jesse Florence and Mamie Banks; brother Joseph W. Banks; faithful, devoted wife of 29 years Dorothy Banks; two sons, Timothy Banks and wife Wanda of Birmingham, Ala., and David Banks and wife Alice of Eagle River, Alaska; four granddaughters and two grandsons; three step-children and their families, Billy Davis, Barbara Clabough and Sharon Clabough, all of Harriman; two sons-in-law; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Margaret Jennings of Newnan, Elizabeth Orr of Sandy Ridge, N.C., and Ellen Long of Statesville, N.C.; one brother Therrell Banks of Gainesville, Fa.; and many nieces and nephews.  He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.  His family will miss him very much.. BARDILL, MR. ALBERT DAVID - age 84, born May 5, 1922 at Wartburg, Tn., died Jan. 1, 2007, At the Etowah Health Care Center. He was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Wartburg, and attended Redeemer's Lutheran Church at Kingston, Tn. He was a veteran of WW II, and former prisoner of war, being captured in Italy and having received a Purple Heart. After being honorably discharged form the Air Force, he was employed by the U. S. Postal Service at Knoxville, Tn. for thirty one years as a letter carrier. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gustav and Mary Heidel Bardill, first wife, Willie Kate Bardill, sister, Catherine Milligan, brothers; Herbert Bardill, Knoxville, Robert Bardill, Cincinnati, Oh. and Gus Bardill, Burnside, Ky.   BARGOIL, REV. JOSEPH WILLIAM 'BILL', 72, of Oakdale, died Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls.  Born Dec. 20, 1929, in Anderson County, he was the son of Joseph Allen Bargiol and Mamie McAlister Bargiol, who are deceased. He had lived in Oakdale for the past 27 years. He was retired minister, having served as pastor of several Baptist churches during his 47-year ministry. Rev. Bargiol was the former pastor of Rocky River Baptist Church of Iva, S.C.; Hill Grove Baptist Church of Guston, Ky.; Middle Creek Baptist Church of Coalfield; Truett Memorial Baptist Church of Hayesville, N.C.; and First Baptist Church of Hilliard, Ohio. Mostly recently, he served as pastor of Daysville Baptist Church of Rockwood. Rev. Bargiol had also served as director of missions for Big Emory Association for 26 years. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Patsy Juanita Inscore Bagiol; two daughters, Patricia Fortune and her husband, David, of Lenoir City, and Elaine Davis and her husband, Mark, of Oak Ridge; two brothers, James Bargiol and his wife, Carolyn, of Conway, S.C., and Virgil Bargiol of Dallas, Texas; and two sisters, Marie Stephens and her husband, Leon, of Easley, S.C., and Sue Hawkins and her husband, Don, of York, S.C.  Rev. Bargiol is also survived by his grandchildren, Jodie Murrell and her husband, Greg, of Atlanta, Ga., Brian Carl of Morristown and Michael Davis and Julie Davis, both of Oak Ridge. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Ann Locklear, and two brothers, Melvin Bargiol and Eugene Bargiol. The funeral will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Middle Creek Baptist Church in Coalfield with the Rev. Craig Neill, the Rev. Omer Painter and the Rev. Mason Goodman officiating. A graveside service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Estes Cemetery in Coalfield. The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the Western Estes Cemetery Perpetual Care Fund, P.O. BARNES, MRS. EDITH REBA MORGAN, age 91, of Sunbright, went to be with the Lord on June 24, 2008. She was a special woman, wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Edith loved cooking great meals for her family and friends.She loved music, taught herself to play the guitar and had the ability to recall and share cherished memories. Her family and friends loved her very much. The emptiness left from her passing cannot be described in words. BARNES, J.C. - went home to be with the Lord Friday, April 16, 2004. He was a faithful member of Pilot Mountain Missionary Baptist Church and was dearly loved by everyone who knew him. BARNES, LENA F., age 79 of Lancing, passed away Monday, November 24, 2003 at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. She had lived in Dayton, Ohio for 50 years before returning to Lancing in 1999. She retired from General Motors and had served two terms as President of the VFW Ladies Auxillary, Post 5018 in Dayton, Ohio. BARTON, MR. GLENN H. — age 80, of Harriman, passed away Monday, March 29, 2004, at the Fort Sanders Park West Hospital in Knoxville. Born February 4, 1924 in Morgan County to the late Earl and Amy Garrett Barton, Mr. Barton served in the Army during World War II at the Battle of the Bulge. He was retired from the Y-12 Plant and faithfully attended the Harriman Baptist Tabernacle for the past 42 years. BASLER, BILLY, 66, of Morgan County, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at his home. Born September 12, 1936, in Morgan County, he was the son of Clarence Basler, Sr. and Wilma Cooper Basler.  He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of Beechfork Holiness Church and a retired mechanic of Beaudry Ford in Atlanta, Ga. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Leslie Basler, and his brother, Gary C. Basler. Babe grew up in Petros, during the depression, and worked in the coal mines for a time. He spent many years of his adult life in Knoxville, TN, where he worked for Kraft Foods. He was transferred to Decatur, GA, in 1967. He retired and spent many years with his family and his bird dogs. Babe will always be remembered as a solid, plain spoken, working man who would help anyone in need and could fix anything. His family delights in discussing their assurance of his ability to land a 747 if there was a need. BASLER, MELBA JUNE - died May 10, 2003, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Atlanta. June was born November 17, 1924, in Harriman, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ed Hart and Blanche Hart Jones of Wartburg, Tenn., and a brother, Alvin Hart of Wartburg, Tenn. She is survived by husband of 63 years, Charles Harvey Basler, Sr. of Stockbridge, Ga.; three children, Brenda June Basler of McDonough, Ga., Charles Harvey Basler, Jr. (Melinda Hewgley) of Knoxville, Tenn., and John Blanchard Basler (Sonya Teal) of McDonough, Ga. She is also survived by sister, Mildred Hart Dillon (John, deceased) of Wartburg,Tenn., and a brother, Howard Hart (Jackie Bradley) of Ashdown, Ariz. She is survived by grandchildren, Lawrence Herbert Redford, Jr. of Rome, Ga., Tracey Leigh Redford of McDonough, Ga., Charles Harvey Basler, III (Terri Turner) of Hightstown,  N.J., Andrew Hayes Basler (Alice Gallegos) of Atlanta, Ga., and Madison Teal Basler of McDonough, Ga., and great- grandchild, Amber Michelle Redford of Ft. Worth, Texas. June is survived by many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. June was of the Baptist faith. She took great pleasure in her family and wide circle of friends. She enjoyed a close family relationship with her entire family. Her delight was all aspects of rearing her children, continuing to the lives of the next generations. June grew up in Petros, Tenn., and Wartburg,Tenn., and spent many years of her adult life in Knoxville, Tenn. She was Postmistress at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, when the UTK Post Office was in South College near Ayres Hall on 'The Hill' and then at the Carolyn Brown Student Center on the UTK Campus, before moving with her family to Atlanta in 1967. In Atlanta, she worked for Dr. Sheldon Soble, podiatrist, and Dr. E. G. Cullens, dentist, before her retirement. In addition, she maintained close friendships with special friends, Marty Pressley and Peggy Duncan (recently deceased). Funeral and burial was in Stockbridge, Ga., at Fairview Memorial Gardens. BATES, JOHN WESLEY, JR.,  83, of Lancing, a good and faithful servant to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, entered into his eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2008 at Cumberland Medical Center in Crossville. He was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Lancing. Mr. Bates was a veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during WWII. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Carolina Littrell; and paternal grandparents, Taylor and Thirsia Bates; parents, Annie Mae (Littrell) and John Wesley Bates Sr.; brothers, Leslie Bates and Everett (L.C.) BEACH, BILLIE FRANKLIN,  70, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2005 in his home in Wartburg. Mr. Beach served in the United States Army for 15 years and was employed with the Tennessee Department of Corrections for 31 years, which he retired from. He loved fishing and spending time with his family. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Flonnie Beach Anderson; and son-in-law, Robert Workman. She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Arminda; brother, Herschel Stewart; sisters, Ruby Stewart Laymance and Cordia Stewart Morgan. Glena's husband, Harold, died in the year 2000. BEAUBIEN, MR. LUCIEN, age 83 of Wartburg, TN, passed away Friday, October 20, 2006 in the Life Care Center of Morgan Co. He was formerly of Sherbrooke, Canada. He was a loving husband and a wonderful father. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in Harriman. He served as a sergeant in the Canadian Army during World War II, in the North Atlantic Zone, stationed in Great Britain from 1942-1944. He was a former plant manager of Tennford Weaving Co. of Wartburg. He is survived by his wife of 59 years: Flore Beaubien of Wartburg; Sons: Marc Beaubien and wife, Peggy of Oneida; Michael Beaubien and wife, Connie of Lancing; Daniel Beaubien and wife, Yvonne of Wartburg; and David Beaubien of Wartburg. Daughter: Denise Howard and husband, Lonnie of Sunbright. Sister: Evone Cardin of Sherbrooke, Canada. BECK, VERA R.,  of Oak Ridge, formerly of Wartburg, died Monday, Dec. 29, 2003, at her home. Mrs. Beck was a former Wartburg Postmaster and was named Tennessee Postmaster of the Year by the National League of Postmasters in 1972. She was a volunteer at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge, where she had accumulated over 10,000 volunteer hours. She was also a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of Glenwood Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin E. Beck; her parents, Lewis and Ethel Runions; her brother, Cecil Runions; two sisters, Alma Bates and Ruth Hurst; and by a niece, Betty Chastain. Mrs. Beck is survived by her nieces and nephews, Sue and Kenneth Jenkins and Connie and Jimmy Bowen, all of Hickman County, Bob and Elizabeth Lovelace Lecroy of Chattanooga, and Billie Lovelace Carringer and David of Oak Ridge; and by several friends, grandnieces and grandnephews. According to her family, Mrs. Beck was known as a very caring person. Her family said her greatest joy was in helping those at Methodist Medical Center and the Hospice House. Her family said when Mrs. Beck was asked about all those hours of no pay, her answer was always, "I'm paid every day by a thank you, a smile and a hug."  The funeral will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Schubert Funeral Home in Wartburg with the Rev. BENESH, BERNARD, 73, a native of Austria died at his home in Burrville. He was born 8/17/1891 in Granben, Austria, now (Czechoslovikia) and emigrated to this county in 1909.  He sailed from Bremen, Germany on the S.S. Frankfort debarking at Galveston, Tx on 7/28/1909.  He served in the Calvary of the U.S. Army from 1910 to 1919.   Burial was in Burrville Methodist Church Cemetery. BERRY, HENRY T., 76, of Oneida died Saturday, January 15, at the Scott County Hospital.  He is survived by his wife, Frona Nelly Berry, Oneida; a daughter, Betty Hutchinson, and a son, Harold C. Berry, both of Cincinnati; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Miskie of Anderson, Indiana, and Mrs. Ollie Monday of Rugby; four brothers, Roy Berry of Cincinnati and Dillard, Jerry and Cletis Berry, all of Rugby.  Also surviving are nine grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.  Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Collins-Murley Mortuary Chapel, with the Rev. BERTRAM, Sam A.  -- Born in Sunbright, TN, January 14, 1923, Passed Away November 11, 2007, after a lengthy illness. He was at Home under Hospice Care. Mr. Bertram served in the Merchant Marines During WWII, Where he served on a Ship named the Armand Considere, (A Concrete Ship) from Feb. 1943 to 1945. Mr. Bertram carried the rank of 3rd mate. He received a Certificate Of Service, discharge for his service. Later he played baseball in the Mountain States League. He played for such teams as the Oakridge Bombers, Newport Canners, Crossville Blues, and the Jamestown Reds, of which all were located in Tennessee. He worked for the Dayton School Board, as an assistant custodian until his retirement in 1988. During his retirement he spent his time fishing and crafting fishing tackle. Mr. Bertram was preceded in death by his mother, Cassie, father, Benedict, and sister, Vera Katherine. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Willadean, son, Michael J. Sr. and wife Teresa, of D!

BESHEARS, LONA RALPH, 71, Nashville, formerly of Glades, passed away Oct. 27, 2005 in Nashville. He was retired from the United States Navy and a retired Tennessee Department of Corrections Officer. He was preceded in death by mother and father, Cora Beshears Henson and Miles Washington Beshears of Centerville, Tenn., and Monett, Mo. BOWERS, FRANCIS E. - age 87, a resident of the Orchard View Community in Roane County, Tennessee died Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at the Briarcliff Health Care Center in Oak Ridge. Mr. Bowers was born June 29, 1919 in Vonore, Tennessee. He has lived in this area since 1954. Mr. Bowers was a member of the Orchard View Baptist Church. He previously served the church as the Sunday School Superintendent. He is a United States Air Force Veteran of WW II who was stationed in Europe. He retired from the K-25 plant of Union-Carbide in 1982 following 36 years of employment at the plant. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, bee keeping, and camping. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Nelson Bowers and Minnie Robinson Bowers, and by a sister, Lillie Bible. Survivors: wife of 63 years, Alice L. Bowers of the Orchard View Community; daughter, Patricia "Trish" Bowers of Chattanooga; sons, Gary L. Bowers and wife Pamela of Clinton, Tommy A. BIDDLE, THOMAS F.  Thomas F. Biddle Sr., the vice president of Progessive Savings Bank in Wartburg, was killed in an automobile wreck in Jamestown. He was 65. Mr. Biddle was a member of First Baptist Church, Wartburg, where he was treasurer for 15 years. Mr. Biddle, who died Friday, was in the banking business for 16 years, was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and was vice commander of American Legion Post No. 149. In addition, he was president of the Wartburg Lions Club and chairman of the Morgan County Health Council. He retired after 30 years of military service, with service in the Korean War, Vietnam War and World War II. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Juanita C. Huling Biddle; a son, Tom Biddle Jr., Wartburg; a daughter, Diane Biddle, Knoxville; sisters and brothers-in-law, Winnie and Richard Gibbons of Oak Ridge, Cora and Bernard Horner of Jefferson City, Virginia Odom of Mosheim, Dorothy and Raymond Greenway of Jonesborough, Alma Smith of East Chicago, Ind., Gladys and Walter Troxell of Coral Springs, Fla.; and brothers and sister-in-law, Buford and Thelma Biddle of New Market and George Biddle of Johnson City. BINGHAM, DARLENE D. DAUGHTERY, age 45, of Ooltewah passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2003 in a local hospital after extended illness. She had been a resident of the Chattanooga area for the last 28 years. Born and reared in Morgan County, she was a graduate of Central High School in Wartburg. Tn. She was also a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She was a former employee of the Catoosa County Department of Education, having taught at Ringgold Middle School for five years. She attended New Shepherd  Hill Baptist Church and served as a musician there.  Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Clark Bingham; Son, Jason Bingham and wife Natasha of Ooltewah, Donald Bingham and special friend, Elizabeth Nicely of East Ridge;  Grandchildren, Trent J. BINGHAM,  ELMER - age 82, passed away Friday, March 12, 1999, at his home with family in Wartburg. He had been a member of Liberty Baptist Church since 1936, where he served as a deacon for 52 years and a Sunday school teacher for 45 years. Mr. Bingham retired from the lumber business in 1980. He owned and operated Wartburg Lumber Company for 20 years. Mr. Bingham was preceded in death by: his parents, Grant and Lily Bingham; and one sister, Bonnie Wallace. BINGHAM, EVA ELIZABETH "SUSIE", 84, of Chattanooga, formerly of Pine Orchard, died June 17, at the Parkridge Medical Center in Chattanooga.   She was a member of Pine Orchard Bapitst Church. Before her retirement, she was employed as a food server for 16 years with the Home Plate Cafeteria in Chattanooga.  She was preceded in death by sisters: Thelma Mathis, Georgia Byrge, Bernice Smallwood and Ruth Graves; brothers, Raymond Bingham, Bud Bingham and Richard (John) Bingham.  She is survived by sisters: Edna Zumstein, Kingston, Gerry Terry, Ventura, Calif., Wanda Honeycutt, Rossville, Ga., and a host of nieces and nephews. BINGHAM, RICHARD (JOHN), 87, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2003.  He would have been 88 years old on March 25th.  He was referred to as "Uncle John" and "Pap" by nieces, nephews and a host of friends and relatives.  Richard was a member of White Oak Missionary Baptist Church where he grew up and attended from early childhood.  He loved singing in the choir and playing the harmonica.  Many a young man learned to sing bass from listening to Richard.  He worked for many years for the Morgan County Road Dept. and helped gravel and put the first black-top surface on most of the roads in Morgan County.  He was a dedicated Christian, father and friend.  He will be missed by all who knew him and by those who will never get to know him.  He was preceded in death by his parents Geroge and Ollie Bingham; sisters, Bernice Smallwood, Georgia Byrge, Thelma Mathis and Ruth Graves; and brothers, Raymond Bingham and Paul (Bud) Bingham.  He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrtle Bingham; daughter, Emma Lou Bingham Meunier; granddaughter Kathryn Meunier; sisters Edna Zumstein, Wanda Honeycutt and husband Glendon, Eva Bingham and Jeraldine Terry; and one sister-in-law and husband Rose and Tom Dicken.  Funeral services were held at White Oak Baptist Church, Oakdale, with Rev. BISHOP, NELLIE A LEE,  86 – of Deer Lodge dies last Sunday at Oak Ridge Hospital.  She had been ill since November when she suffered a heart attack. Mrs. Bishop was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Lancing.  In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting and sewing.  Her husband, William A. Bishop, who died in 1954, was a farmer.  Mrs. Bishop is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Onolee Gooch of Deer Lodge and Mrs Herbert A. (Evalee) Brown of Crossville; three sons, Bernard Bishop of Harriman, Conrad Bishop of Deer Lodge and Wilfred Bishop of Sunbright; a brother, Clint Lee of Deer Lodge, a sister, Mrs. Ibbie Byrd of Route 1 Lancing; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Phrona Blalock, Daughters, Elaine and Patricia of Ohio, Sisters, Joyce Morrow and Mildred Smith of Wartburg, Brothers, Lowell, Delbert and Walter Blalock, all of Wartburg.  He is survived by his wife, Vickie Blalock of Ohio, Children, Heather of Ohio, David Jr. and wife Kim Blalock of Tn ., Mark Blalock of Tn ., Rodney and wife Ada Blalock of Ohio,and Scott Blalock of Ohio. 12 Grandchildren. BLANKENSHIP, NELLIE ELIZABETH MITCHELL - of Maryville, died Thursday, July 12, 2001 at the Life Care Center of Morgan County in Wartburg, following a long decline in health. Mrs. Blankenship was born on May 10, 1912 in Martinsburg, Neb., the second of 12 children of Mary and George Mitchell. In 1922, when she was ten, the family moved to Calif. in a 1918 Model T Ford touring car with what possessions they could fit among the seven children and two adults. They camped in a tent and in caves, cooked outside and once shared the tent with several other people during a thunderstorm.  Mrs. Blankenship's father kept a large pistol strapped to the steering wheel to ward off outlaws and animals and once he pulled it on a man who tried to run them off the narrow road during the 28 day trip. Desert crossings were made on roads consisting of wooden planks tied together with ropes. The family settled in Artesia, Calif. where five more children were born. In 1929, John Blankenship traveled with his parents, Charley and Pearl Blankenship, of Greenback, to Calif. to visit relatives where he met Elizabeth Mitchell. They wee married September 20, 1931 in El Monte, Calif. After several years of moving back and forth between Calif. and Tenn., they settled in Greenback, where they raised three children, Betty, Alice and John, Jr. In 1967, Mr. & Mrs. Blankenship moved to Shady Lane, near Maryville where they enjoyed retirement with numerous neighbors. Mr. Blankenship died in 1984 and Mrs. Blankenship continued to live at Shady Lane until 1999. Mrs. Blakenship was a  homemaker, a 50 year charter member of the Greenback Order of the Eastern Star and attended Fairview United Methodist Church. Survivors include a sister, Vivian Mason of Sacramento, Calif.; brother, Richard Mitchell of Los Angeles, Calif.;  daughters & sons in law, Betty & Aubrey Murr of Greenback and Alice & Buford Pippin of Sulphur, La.; son & daughter in law, John & Dianne  Blankenship of Wartburg; five grandchildren, James A. Murr; Sarah Murr, Cindy Newman, Alice Treadwell and David Blankenship; four great grandchildren and numerous nieces & nephews.  Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday July 15, 2001 TrinityChapel, Smith Mortuary, Entombment will follow at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. BLANTON, WILLODEAN GRAGG BARNETT, 88, Cookeville, passed away March 18, 2003 in her home in Cookeville.  She was born Jone 21, 1914 in Morgan County to the late James Thomas and Gustie Mae Norris Barnett.  She was a restaurant owner.  She was preceded in death by two husbands, Joseph Roscoe Gragg and Randall Austin Blanton; a daughter Claudean Gragg; two daughters-in-law Earlene and Gladys Gragg; three sisters Alta Mae Warden, Ginger Christofferson and Susie McPhertridge; and eight brothers, Elmer, Benton, Ross, Roy, Kenneth, Walter, Freddy and David Barnett.  She is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law Charles Gragg of Vines Ridge Community and Billie and Adelle Gragg of Vine Ridge Community; seven grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren; one sister, Betty Mills of Detroit, Mich; and siter-in-law Evelyn Banks of Gadsden, Ala.
