CARRIE MAE LOVE GIBBS
OVER A CENTURY
Mrs. O.E. GIBBS has bragging rights in Tift County. She recently
celebrated her 102nd birthday with a family dinner at her home. She was
born in Harriman, Tenn., in 1888 and arrived in Tift County in 1910 where she
taught three terms at the now defunct Branch Hill School. She continued
teaching music lessons until the 1940s. Gibbs had nine children, seven living;
17 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.

NOTE: She lived to be 103. She was born in Morgan County, TN on May 4, 1888, and lived in
Mossy Grove. She was the daughter of William Wallace Love and Mary Mathis.
