Morgan County is located in East Tennessee in one of the  "Three Grand Divisions"

Established in 1817 from Anderson and Roane counties, in memory
of the late Major Daniel Morgan (1736-1802),
American Revolutionary War
officer who commanded the troops that defeated the British at
Cowpens, and a U.S. congressman from Virginia.
