PRIVATE SYLVANUS TROTTER

CIVIL WAR SOLDIER

A Confederate Soldier, Private Sylvanus Trotter was born 18 Dec 1838 in Montgomery Co., TN. He was the son of Elijah Trotter and Melissa Milam. He was the older brother of John William Trotter. He enlisted in Co.B/14th Tennessee Infantry Regiment, Confederate States of America. He was wounded in action at Seven Pines and later captured. As a POW he was sent to Point Lookout, Maryland. He was later released and fought at Gettysburg. He again was captured at Petersburg and remained a POW until the end of the war. He is buried in the Pleasant View Cemetery, in the Center Point Community in Dickson, TN
