John William Trotter

CONFEDERATE WAR SOLDIER


 
 

John William Trotter was born in Southside, TN. 1 March 1842. His parents were Elijah Trotter and Melissa Milam. He enlisted in Company A/50th Tennessee Infantry Regiment Confederate States of America on 16 Sept 1861. He served in all major battles and was severely wounded twice and was captured at the Battle of Nashville, TN. He was one  of only six men of the 50th that surrendered at Greensboro, N. Carolina. He returned to Southside and was a farmer. He was a member of Forbes Bivouac, United Confederate Veterans of Clarksville, TN
