A Tellico Plains soldier has been killed in action, the War Department announced this week.

Making a supreme sacrifice was Pvt. Parrion R. Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. William M. Harris.

Private Harris was a Light Weapons Infantryman with the 35th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action while fighting the enemy in South Korea on March 7, 1951. Private Harris was awarded the Purple Heart, the Combat Infantryman's Badge, the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Presidential Unit Citation and the Republic of Korea War Service Medal.
