 A Sweetwater soldier, missing in action in Vietnam for a week, has been declared a casualty in Vietnam.

He suffered metal fragment wounds while on a mission near Saigon.

Husband of Paulette Thomason and son of Mr. & Mrs. Joe Thomason of Niota.  He was born in Nashville and spent much of his early life in Smithville.  He moved to this area with his family some three years ago and worked in Cleveland for a short while prior to being inducted into the armed forces.

He had been in the service 14 months at the time of his death.
