Both William Jefferson Tallent and Lucinda Ann "Lucy" Veal were born and raised in Monroe County, TN. They married and started their family in Monroe County.

Lucy's mothers name was Saphronia Underwood, a daughter of Joel Underwood and her fathers name was Thomas Pearson Veal. The Veal and Underwood families were also from Monroe County.
