Glenn, George T. May 23, 1854 Loudon Free Press: On Monday 8th inst at the residence of his brother-in-law, Henry Donohoo, Ball Play, Monroe County, son of S. Glenn, Esq., in the 25th year of his age, died of brain fracture from fall. Born and raised in Monroe County, leaving wife, two children, parents, and an only sister.

Haines, Martha Jane (Mrs.) Nov. 23, 1860 Athens Post: Died at Sweetwater on 5th inst, aged 32; leaves husband and two little children.

Hamilton, Hugh Sep. 7, 1855 Athens Post: Died in Monroe County on 25th inst of flux, some three weeks before, three of his children died of the same disease within three days of each other.

Harrison, James Nov. 19, 1857 Knoxville Register: In Monroe County on 26th ult, son of Isaac and Anna M. Stevens Harrison, after an illness of about seven mons. in the 18th year of his age.

Hicks, Elizabeth (Mrs.) Aug. 2, 1854 Loudon Free Press: Died of cholera on 29th Jul at Coyatee, Monroe County, wife of Abraham Hicks, second daughter of Elizabeth and John Blair of Miller's Cove, Blount County, aged 41 years 4 mons. and 24 days. Left husband and eight children.

Long, Thomas A. H. Nov. 3, 1854 Athens Post: aged 3 yrs. 2 mons. 20 days, son of Mrs. F. Long died at Hiwassee College on 29th inst of scarlet fever.

Malone, Robert W. Dec. 30, 1853 Athens Post: Tribute of respect by Eroslethean Society of Hiwassee College to brother Robert W. Malone who died at the Cvollege July 14, 1853.

Marshall, Isaac Jul. 25, 1856 Athens Post: Died at his residence in Monroe County in his 24th year.

Mason, Huson Jun. 30, 1840 Hiwassee Partiot: Chancery at Madisonville - Solomon Stew and Parella Stew VS John Friddle, Mary Friddle, John Huson, Andrew Allen and his son John Allen, William Huson, Daniel Heiskell, and Angeline, Mason, and Perella Huson, minors, and children of Thomas Huson, dec'd. Angeline, Mason, and Perella Huson are of Missouri. In 1817 Mason Huson died, testate, leaving widow Mary who has since married John Friddle, property to be divided when youngest child reaches maturity, son Thomas Huson moved to Mo. and died.

McCoy, Eliza (Mrs.) Oct. 24, 1827 Knoxville Register: On Oct. 6, wife of Dr. Cummongs McCoy of New Philadelphia, E. T. aged about 22 yrs. and the Dr. her husband on the 14th of the same mo., aged about 28 yrs. leaving a son less then two yrs. old. Members of Presbyterian Church.

McGhee, B. Esq., Jun 20, 1856 Athens Post: Of Monroe County died at Chattanooga a few days since, from wonds self-inflected while laboring under a sudden attack of insanity. He was a man of many good qualities and was generally esteemed.

McGhee, Betsy J. (Mrs.) Apr. 15, 1829 Knoxville Register: On Tues. 7th of this mo., in Monroe county, aged 27 years, wife of John McGhee, Esq. and daughter of Col. Charles McClung of this County (Knox.).

McNabb, Wiley B. Mar. 28, 1854 Loudon Free Press: Was found dead in the field where he was plowing, one or two miles from Balplay, in Monroe County, having been killed by lightning.

Tipton, Jonathan Col. Nov 26, 1858 Athens Post: aged 82, for last thirty odd years a citizen of Monroe County; died at his residence on Tenn. River Monday the 8th inst. His father emigrated to this country when he was quite young from Shenandiah Co., Va. member of the State legislature for 21 sessions. Leaves large family of children.

Torbitt, James Jun 30, 1840 Hiwassee Partiot: Chancery at Madisonville - Caswell Torbett, of lawful age, and Marcena, James W., Mahala, Teresa, and Rachel Torbitt, minors by gdns. Charles Kelso and John Torbitt VS Robert McReynolds, Marvell Duncan, John Hall, John McGhee, John O. Cannon, Mahala Upton, and William Upton. In 1828 complainants father James Torbitt died and within a few days their mother alos died. Administration granted in Monroe County to Robert McReynolds, William S. Blair, and Marvell Duncan. Marvell Duncan is now a citizen of Georgia. Said Blair afterwards died and respondents Cannon and McGhee were appointed adms. and respondent Mahala Upton (then Mahala Blair) adminx. of Blair's estate. James Hall, complainants grandfather, took negro girl with adms. consent and kept her until a short time before his death when he moved to his son John Hall's.

Turner, Fisher C. May 20, 1840 Knoxville Register: At his boarding house on Fork Creek, Monroe County, on Monday the 13th Apr., Asst. teacher in Fork Creek Academy, in 31st year of his age, born and raised in Roane Co.

Upton, James Esq. Feb. 5, 1845 Knoxville Register: On Tues. 14 ult at his residence in Monroe County, in the 79th year of his age, one of earliest emigrants to Tenn.

Upton, Thomas L. Jan. 6, 1847 Knoxville Register: On Monday 21 Dec. at residence of his father, Thomas L. Upton of Monroe County, in the 23rd year of his age, native of Blount County, but his father moved to Monroe County when James H. was quite young.
