History of McNairy Co., TN
Archibald Houston came from Pennsylvania to Tennessee about the time Tennessee was admitted to the union, settling in Giles County, Tennessee.  He served as a soldier in the Revolutionary War and in the War of 1812.  His wife was Rebecca Cunningham, an orphan, who came with relatives to this country from England. Archibald and Rebecca came to McNairy County, Tennessee in 1821, residing first half a mile north of an area now referred to as Guys and later moving a mile and a half south of that point.  Houston died and was buried at this location in the early 1830's.
