CLARK
I am searching for information on the CLARK family. Anderson and Isabell Jones CLARK were my ggggrandparents. I am interested in any information on their 11 children. Many of them are buried in Clear Springs Presb. Cemetery in McMinn Co. I have little information on John Clark, who was supposedly killed in the civil war. Also, limited information on William Burton Clark, Dorothy Clark Smith, Gabriel Clark, and James Clark. I have seen the gravesites of all the other children. Also, David Cobb Clark is my gggrandfather and served in Co. C of the 1st TN. cavalry in the Civil War. Specific information on him would be of interest also.

ALLEN, LONG AND SMELCER
The LONG, ALLEN and SMELCER families were neighbors and intermarried in Sevier Co., TN., beginning with John LONG, II and his marriage to Elizabeth ALLEN about 1819/1820. After Elizabeth's death, John married her sister, Jane and moved to McMinn Co. TN. After Jane's death in McMinn Co., John married to Elizabeth SMELCER and they moved to Walker Co., GA, where they died. I know very little about Elizabeth and Jane ALLEN, but have reason to believe they may have had a brother, James. Also have reason to believe that Elizabeth SMELCER could have been the daughter of an Adam SMELCER of Jefferson Co. Any information on these families (especially the ALLEN girls) would be appreciated. Will be glad to share anything I have.

FOSTER
FOSTER families from Union SC came to McMinn and possibly other counties in 1830s. One was family of JARRETT Foster (b.1795 Union Dist SC). He brought his wife Dorcus MOSELEY. Their son ANDREW J was born there in February 1842. Any/all information on Andrew, Jarrett (various spellings) or his siblings FREDERICK, JOHN M., THOMAS J. or NANCY; or even his father JOHN (born 1752 in SC) most welcome.

I am seeking information on my ggg-grandmother Lucinda SWEENY(full blood Cherokee), born late 1700's. She was married to Benjamin AHL, and was the parents of my gg-grandmother, Nancy AHL, who was married to Alfred Annison SWAFFORD. All members our family are of Cherokee descent and were the first Cherokee's (Old Settlers)to arrive in the Ozarks of northwestern Arkansas, Benton Cty. My ggg-grandfather build Elkhorn Tavern, the site of the Battle of Elkhorn Tavern during the Civil War.

I am at a dead end can you be of any assistance? I am looking for info on Susan Cathryn West born January 3, 1869. Her father I believe is J. V. West (possibly Joseph V. West). Susan Cathryn West was my g.grandmother and she married William Jasper Tallent. She had a brother tha my grandmother called Dick West (probably Richard) who went out west somewhere. Upon hearing of his sisters death he never wrote or visited again and no more info is known about him. This is what I have on J. V. West: The 1880 census book for Monroe County and it shows the following for J. V. West: West, J.V. 75 SC SC T, M. 47 T T T wife, James 21 T, M 16(f) T, R.J. 14 (F) T, Lucinda 12 T, Sul 9 (f) T, Richard 6 T, Jeptha 4 There is also another West about 4 houses away: G.R. West 37 NC NC NC, C. 34 T SC T, Paten 17 T T T nephew. And Jasper Tallent 21 hired hand is listed next door to J. V. West in Calvin Harrison's household. Can you help me flesh out my West line?

George THOMAS (cir 1800) and wife Julia B (WILLETT) were in McMinn Co Tn when county was formed. Who was this George? Who were his parents? Have been trying to locate where they came from for a great number of years. Would appreciate any help or thoughts on above. LAWSON,ROGERS,HART
Looking for Information about Tyra LAWSON, born 1796. He is shown as being born in Virginia. Information from a Miller Roll said his father was George ROGERS of Hawkins Co. Tenn. His mother was Sally LAWSON. His paternal grand father was William ROGERS. His maternal grand father was John LAWSON. Both grand fathers were cousins and were members of the Cherokee Nation in North Carolina. Also the Miller Roll stated John LAWSON and William ROGERS were related to the Indian Dr. FOREMAN. Tyra married Mary(polly) HART in 1820 in Roane Co. Tenn. He used the name of Tyra Rogers at that time. In 1826 he received 3 land grants in McMinn Co. Tenn. He died in McMinn Co. Tenn. The only time I have seen him use the name of Rogers was at his marriage. The rest of his life he used his mother's name of LAWSON.
