MANIS
I am trying to track the lines of the MANIS family namely Asberry (Anderson) MANIS and Matilda Jane MANIS. They were married in McMinn Co. on Sept. 9,1852 by JP. G.W. Wallis. Both had the same sur name of MANIS I am trying to get the parents names of either or both of the people. They had a number of children including: Efrem, George, Joseph, John, Sara, William, Mary, James, Frank, Dolly, Nancy, Isabell and Francis ( a male). Info I know: Born abt 1830 in Tenn., Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, or No. Carolina. Married Susan Cameron, 3/1855, Madison Co., AL. George Washington McMinn, son, born 1858 in TN. Divorced in Madison Co., AL. (Date unkown) My GG Aunt, Mattie Lou McMinn Lemley, told us that her father George W. McMinn had told her that his father, Andrew, had divorced when he was a small boy, had remarried and had another family. She could not tell them anything else but that he had left the immediate area. Susan Cameron McMinn never re-married, and lived with her son, George, until she died, in Madison Co., AL.

PERKINS
I am searching for any information on Levi & Hopy PERKINS. From a letter written 15 Aug 1854, McMinn County Levi states his birth as 21 June 1782 and Hopy's as 31 May 1782. He also states that "we make our home at James SLOOPS". It is said that they had 10 children, but from the letter I am only able to ascertain 5, possibly 6 children. Levi says his children are scattered everywhere. Their names are Vina, Jane, Becca, Ute, and Anna LINEBARGER...and possibly one more in GA. Levi states that Ute is teaching in Brackett town, wherever that is. I found a Levi PERKINS in White county in 1830 and also a land survey dated 27 Apr 1824 to 28 Mar 1828 in the same county. Does anyone have any information on this family?

WORK
My ancestor Jacob WORK was the Coroner for McMinn County at it's formation. The only other known presence in McMinn is as a Juror about 1822. Does anyone know anything about Jacob WORK in McMinn? He was previously in Roane from about 1804-1821, then McMinn, but probably died there soon thereafter. Have no land records to get him into McMinn, either. JOHN CASSON DELANEY
John Casson Delaney served in both the Mexican and Civil Wars. His wife was Martha Jane Hacker. An obituary notice for Martha Jane gives her date of death as December, 1940 in McMinn County. Her funeral was held at the Calhoun Baptist Church. I am looking for more information about John Delaney. Who were his parents? Thanks for any help!

Can anyone tell me if there ever was a town in McMinn County called Turley's Mills? I have a relative Samuel Elliott who was born there in 1867. I found a town with a similar name in Grainger Co. but can't find any reference to his parents ever being there.
