THE WILL OF WILLIAM RENFRO 1734 - 1830

Maury County, Tennessee


 

I William Renfro Senr do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form of order following.


 

First I give and bequeath unto my wife Jinny Renfro as much of the farm whereon I now live as she may choose to cultivate. All my negros to wit Gham and Edy with all her offspring and all my household and kitchen furniture all my cows hogs and one-half of my sheep. I likewise five to my said wife my wagon and gears, my gray horse called Jack and my black horse the above named property and singular to her and during her life or widowhood.


 

Secondly I give to my sons John Renfro, Jesse Renfro and Moses Renfro one dollar each. I also give to my Daughters Lidde Harris, Nancy Kenedy and Jinny Simians one dollar each.


 

Thirdly I give to my son—William Renfro the tract of land whereon I now live to be his after the death of my wife Jinny. All the above negros (except a girl called Lucinda) and haft my sheep to him and his heirs forever.


 

Forthly I give unto my grandson James Shelburne Renfro one negro girl called Lucinda at my wife’s death to him and his heirs forever.


 

And Fifthly I nominate my wife Jinny Renfro executress to execute my last will and testament. In witness whereof this ninth day of August in the year of our Lord 1825.
