Will of James Dooley

Maury County Wills & Inventories Book C-1, page 513

I, James Dooley, the uncertainty of this mortal life and being of sound mind
and memory do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and
form following:  1st it is my will that my grandson James Madison Dooley
have that tract or parcel of land on which I now live.  2nd I give and
bequeath to my son Esom, my Negro man Solesburg also and waggon and gear.
3.  I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Rachel Dooley my negro man Sam
during her life and at her death it is my wish that he be divided equally
between my two sons Esom and Parris.  I also give and bequeath to my beloved
wife one bed bedstead  and desire that my son Esom have the management of
all that property left by me for the benefit of my beloved wife.  4th  I
also give and bequeath to my son in law William Wallace my bay horse and cow
and calf and five hundred pounds of pork.  It is further my desire that my
grandson James Harvey Wallace have my sorrel mare bonny.  5th  It is my will
and desire that my son Parris have one cow and calf and bead bedstead
furniture also one large kettle.

Signed sealed published and declared by the above named James Dooley to be
his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and his
presence have subscribed our names as witnesses thereunto this twenty-fifth
