The Family of Francis Herron Kennedy
submitted by Rick Gray
Francis Herron Kennedy
Born Abt 1779 North Carolina, USA
Died Bef 14 Oct 1825 Maury County, Tennessee, USA
Father James Kennedy Sr. (Abt
1735-1825)
Mother Elizabeth or Hannah (--?--) ( - )
Married 8 May 1801 Garrard County, Kentucky, USA
Events
1. He is listed with 1 white male over 21 on the tax list of 1802 in
Garrard County, Kentucky, USA.
2. He is listed with 1 white male above 16 on the tax list of 1803
in Garrard County, Kentucky, USA. I
am wondering if this year was a transcription
error (not Joy's) but on the part of the tax accessor. In
1802, he is listed as being above 21, indicating a
birth before 1781. In 1803, he is listed as being under
21, indicating a birth after 1782. By 1804, he is once
again listed as being above 21.
3. He is listed with 1 white male over 21 on the tax list of 1804 in
Garrard County, Kentucky, USA.
Francis is once again listed as being above 21 years of
age, indicating a birth at least before 1783.
4. He is listed with 50 acres 3rd rate land in Pulaki County and 1 white
male over 21 on the tax list of
1805 in Garrard County, Kentucky, USA.
5. He emigrated after 1807 to Maury County, Tennessee, USA.
6. He was listed on the Tax List of 1811 for Maury County, Tennessee.
Birth Notes (Husband)
Both Deborah and Lee list a later birth date for Francis but in learning Mary's
birth date from her tombstone, I
feel that Francis was born a little earlier and have an approximate date of
1779. At that time it was unusual
for a wife to be older than her husband, so I feel they were both born about the
same time.
Death Notes (Husband)
The approximate death date is taken due to when his estate papers were filed and
the fact that in his dad's
estate papers he is listed as already being deceased.
Research Notes (Husband)
Have not been able to fully get a grasp of all of Francis' children as he died
before they were listed on census
records. He did not leave a will but the people with Kennedy names listed on the
estate settlement with the
surname Kennedy were: Mary Kennedy (this of course I know is his wife), James
Kennedy (could have been
John's son, James), John Kennedy (probably his brother), Thomas Kennedy
(probably once again his brother
who was also here and served as administrator of the estate). Then there is an
M. Kennedy and E. Kennedy --
not sure who they are. The children I am listing for him and Mary are based on
looking at early marriage
records. Kennedy children that fit the age of his children on census records and
I cannot find that belong to
another family, I am linking to Francis based on lack of any other evidence.
