Three acres granted to Joshua Kelly

OF TENNESSEE-No. 5053
To all to
whom these presents shall come--greetings
KNOW YE, That,
for and in consideration of the sum of twelve and 1/2 cents per acre, paid into the office of
the Entry-Taker of Lincoln county, and entered on the 3d day
of May 1824 pursuant to the
provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of said state, passed on the
twenty second day of November, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-three, by
No. 91.
there is granted by the State of Tennessee, unto Joshua
Kelly
a certain Tract or Parcel of LAND, containing Thirty three
acres
by survey bearing date the 19th day of August 1824 lying in
said county,
On the head waters of Cane Creek and bounded as follows, to
wit: Beginning at a white Oak, Nathan
Bagley's corner. Running thence East
with his line 36 poles to an Elm,
Anthony Hampton's corner, thence North with his line 88 poles to a Hickory on
the top of the Elk Ridge, thence West sixty six poles to a stake on the top of
the Elk Ridge, James Kidd's corner, thence North with his line 30 poles to a
Sugartree, said Kidd's corner, thence West with his line 86 poles to a stake,
thence South nine poles to a stake on James Stevenson's line, thence East with
said Kelly's line 80 poles to a Lynn, his corner, thence South with his line
fifty poles to a Locust, his corner, thence East with his line 37 poles to a
black Ash, his corner, thence South with his line 57 poles to the Beginning.
With the hereditaments and appurtenances. To HAVE and to HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of LAND, with its
appurtenances, to the said Joshua Kelly and his heirs forever.
In Witness Whereof,
WILLIAM CARROLL, Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set
his hand and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed, at Nashville, on
the 15th day of January in the year of
our lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven, and of the independence
of the United States, the fifty first.
