{ SEAL}           THE STATE OF TENNESSEE-No. 38,635

To all to whom these presents shall come--greetings

KNOW YE, That, for and in consideration of the sum of twelve and one half cents  per acre, paid into the office of the Entry-Taker of Bedford  county, and entered on the  13th  day of July  1824  pursuant to the provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of said state, passed on the twenty second day of November, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-three, by No. 351

 

There is granted by the State of Tennessee, unto George Cummings

 

a certain Tract or Parcel of LAND, containing fifty seven and three fourths acres

by survey bearing date the first  day of March  1825    lying in said county,

 

on the head Waters of the East fork of Rock Creek of Duck River and being bounded as follows, to wit:  Beginning at a sugar tree, Benjamin Simmons' NW corner and said Cummings's South boundary line.  Running West with his said boundary line 46 poles to his SW corner, thence North 16 poles on said Cummings line to another of his corners, thence West with his line (crossing the Nashville  road) one hundred poles to a Beech on his South West corner.  Thence  South 14 degrees West with Jordan Murry's line 16 poles to his South East corner, thence West 31 poles to his SW corner.  Thence North 119 poles to his NW corner on Polly Murray's line, thence South about 85 degrees West with her line 26 poles to a Dogwood, her corner, thence  South  83 1/2 poles to a white Ash on the Lincoln County line thence North 82 degrees East twenty one poles to a stake in said County line, thence North 60 degrees East fiftty three poles to a stake on said line, thence North 65 degrees East 28 poles to a stake on said  line, thence 12 1/2 degrees East 48 poles to three hickories on said line and Jessee McLean's line, thence East with his line (crossing said road) fifty three poles to a stake on said county line thence South 60 degrees East ten poles to a Beech thence North 78 degrees East ten poles to a lynn on said line & on Benjamin Simmons' line.  Thence North with his line forty four poles to the beginning---

 

With the hereditaments and appurtenances.  To HAVE  and to HOLD the said Tract or Parcel of LAND, with its appurtenances, to the said George Cummings   and his   heirs forever.

 

In Witness Whereof,  WILLIAM CARROLL, Governor of the State of Tennessee hath hereunto set his hand and caused the Great Seal of the State to be affixed, at Nashville, on the 21st    day of August  in the year of our lord, one thousand eight hundred and twenty six , and of the independence of the United States, the fifty first.
