THE LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF L. J. BEENE, of Lodge, Marion County, Tennessee
I, L. J. Beene of Lodge, Marion County, Tennessee, do hereby make publish and declare the
following as and for my last Will and Testament:
FIRST. I direct that all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid as soon after my death as
can conveniently be done.
Second. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mrs. Barbara MacRae, of South Pittsburg, Tenness
[sic], or if she should die before me, then to her heirs, the sum of Four Thousand Dollars,
Third. I give and bequeath to my daughter, Mrs. Irene McWhorter, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, or
if she should die before me, then to her heirs, the sum of Four Thousand Dollars, ($4000.00)
Fourth. I give and bequeath to my daughter Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Jones of Chickamauga, Georgia,
or if she should die before me, then to her heirs the sum of Four Thousand and Five Hundred
Dollars ($4500.00), cash.
Fifth. All the rest and residue of my estate, real, personal and mixed, I give and bequeath to
my children, Mrs. Barbara MacRae of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; Mrs. Irene MCWHOrter[sic] of
Chattanooga, Tennessee; Charles P. Beene of Lodge, Tennessee; and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth [Jones] of
Chickamauga, Georgia, equally, share and share alike; and in the event of the death of either
of them before me, I give and bequeath the interest such deceased children would take under
this Will to their heirs.
Sixth. I nominate, constitute and appoint Hugh A. Griffith, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, the
Executor of this my last Will and Testament, and having confidence in his integrity, I excuse
him from giving bond as such.
In Witness whereof, I have hereunto subscribed my name, this the Eighth, (8th) day of May,
Nineteen Hundred and Twenty (1920) in the presence Miss Nell Allen and A an[sic- Alan] S. Kelly,
whom I have requested to become attesting witnesses hereto.

The Foregoing Instrument was subscribed, published and declared by L. J. Beene as and for his
Last Will and Testament, in our presence, and in the presence of each of us, and we, at the
same time, at his request, in his presence and in the presence of each other, hereunto
subscribe our names as Attesting witnesses, this the Eighth (8th) day of May Nineteen Hundred
and Twenty (1920).
