  • CREEK
I am researching the surname CREEK. My GGG grandfather was Killion CREEK who married Margaret HOLLOWAY in 1769 in Va. Killion had 15 children. Catherine, John, Nancy, Solomon, Jacob, Abraham, Isaac, David, Lavisa, Susanna, Killion, Jr., Thomas, James, Philadelphia and William W. CREEK. Any info at all on CREEK's would be appreciated. I believe all CREEK's are related. This CREEK name was german. It was originallly spelled GERIG (this is arrived from the signature of Killion CREEK). Or at least it looked like it was spelled like that. Macon Co TN is next door to Monroe Co. KY and that is where my GG grandfather John CREEK raised his family. Some surnames that married into the John CREEK family are LUCKETT, FLETCHER, LEE, DENISON, NEAL, O'BANNON and WILLIAMS. Surnames that married into the Isaac CREEK family are BUTRUM, AGERS, LEE, WOODCOCK, GREEN, MCPEAK, and LLOYD.

Andrew and Margaret were present in Augusta, VA for the settlement of Margaret's father's estate, Thomas Calbreath (also spelled Galbraith), in 1801. Nothing is known of them until the 1830 census where Margaret appears as the head of household in Smith County Tennessee suggesting Andrew was deceased prior to 1830. Andrew and Margaret had a son, who I am descended from, named Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE. He was born in 1805 and claims Smith/Macon County, TN. as his place of birth. Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE married Jane CALBREATH, his cousin, in ca. 1825.Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE appears in census of 1840, 1850, as head of household with Margaret as a member of his household. Possible siblings of Thomas M. WALLIS/WALLACE are David, James,Jefferson, William C.and Sarah. Any information regarding Andrew WALLIS/WALLACE or Andrew W. WALLIS/WALLACE is dearly needed. • BARGER, BULLOCK Hello: I am interested in finding out any information on Allen and Nancy BULLOCK BARGER my gr-gr-grandparents. Allen BARGER was born in Tn. ABT of 1801. Nancy was born in Tn. ABT of 1815. I don't know where either Allen and Nancy were born. In 1829, I found a land grant for 100 acres of land in Morgan Co. Tn. issued to Allen BARGER. I now have a deed for this property out of Morgan Co. Tn. for the 100 acres signed by Governor William Carroll of Tn. It is my belief that Allen and Nancy lived in Bledsoe Co. Tn. before moving to Ripley Co. Missouri in the 1830's. I am interested in who Allen and Nancy's parents are; were there any siblings? When was Allen BARGER and Nancy BULLOCK married? 8/16/98 CARL BARGER (cbarger@seark.net) Hello: My name is Carl Barger. I am researching my Gr-Gr-Grandfather, Allen BARGER and his wife Nancy BULLOCK. I would like to know if Nancy BULLOCK may have come from your county. I think she may have married Allen BARGER sometime around 1830-35. Allen lived in BLEDSOE Co. during the 1837-39 years. He and Nancy had two children that were listed in the 1840 federal census for Ripley Co. Mo. Both children gave that they were born in Tn. I would like any information on either Allen or Nancy. Also, on John BARGER and Pointer BARGER who also were in Bledsoe Co. in the 1840 federal census. I also think that Nancy's father may have been Joseph BULLOCK. Please check your records and respond should you find a connection. Carl Barger, Superintendent of the Warren Public Schools, Warren, Arkansas.

Shelby Patton MCCLELLAN was born in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee (Macon County). They evidently divorced possibly around 1929 or 1930 (Dorris COMPERRY eventually re-married so that's how I know they either divorced or she was widowed.) • ELLER,FINN, AND POSSIBLY CORNWELL I have family, that I know of, beginning in the mid 1800's (possibly earlier) by the surnames of ELLER and FINN. The two lines merge when William J. Eller born in 1850 or 1860 in Hillsdale, Macon Co. married Nancy Elizabeth Finn born Abt 1866 from Hillsdale also. William's father was Jacob Eller and mother was Elinor Woods. Nancy's father was John Derice Finn and mother was Mary Elizabeth Alexander. The surname Cornwell has also surfaced in my records. Do W.H. Cornwell born 1819 or Patience Cornwell born 1822 ring any bells? Thanks in advance.
