HARRISON CEMETERY
The Harrison Cemetery is located 1-1/2 miles from the town of Loudon. The Harrison family is of Scotch Irish stock, the ancestors of this branch coming to America from "Auld Scoties flinty glebe". John Harrison moved from Virginia to East Tennessee at an early day in the settlement of that section and located at Loudon in the bend of the Tennessee River, which was at that time in the fifth district of Roane County. He married Miss Susan Jackson - and by that union had only one child, a son, James Fuqua Harrison, born in the year 1809 who read medicine and was graduated in Lexington, Kentucky and located at Loudon, Tenn. John Harrison died in the year 1856 and his son Dr. James Fuqua Harrison inherited his estate, on which he lived until his death in the year 1861. The present site of this grave yard was selected and laid off by John Harrison, the first Harrison to settle in this section. After the death of his son in 1861 the farm was sold by Dr. Josiah Jackson Harrison, a son of Dr. James Fuqua Harrison in the year 1868, who reserved the grave and the right of way to it for the families of himself, B.F. Harrison, James Harrison, John W. Harrison, and William Harrison. Eighty-Two years have passed away - the grave yard is in perfect condition and is still being used by the Harrison families. An inspection of the monuments will show you five generations of the John Harrison families sleeping side by side. This history is written by Fannie A. Harrison, one of the fourth generation, in the year 1938, a daughter of Dr. Josiah Jackson Harrison. Copied by Richard Flohr, Lenoir City, Tennessee RFD # 2 - Jan. 25, 1938 Private J.L.
