On this 6th day of August
A.D. 1855 personally appeared in open court ROBERT M. COOPER and
ANDREW JOHNSON residents of said State and County and persons of
probity and truth who being duly sworn according to law declair that
they personally know REBECKAH DODSON who signed and acknowledged the
foregoing declaration in their presence and they declare that they
personally knew her former husband ABNER KING during his lifetime
and that he and ROBERT M. COOPER lived in the same neighborhood when
they were married and he personally knew the said REBECKAH DODSON
and her former husband ABNER KING to Cohabit as husband and wife and
were so reputed and that it was never doubted that they were married
and that he knew ABNER KING served as is set forth in the forgoing
declaration and that he was killed (23) December 1814 at New
Orleans, La.) as afore-said that he ROBERT M. COOPER was in Captain
Hurt's Company, Tennessee Militia and that he knew when King was
killed as aforesaid and that he knew when the said REBECKAH DODSON
married her last husband BENJAMIN T. DODSON and that he lived in the
same neighborhood when he died and that he personally knows the said
REBECKAH DODSON is now a Widow and that he has no interest in this
claim. Also ANDREW JOHNSON declares that he knew the
said ABNER KING and the said REBECKAH DODSON (formerly his wife_ to
Cohabit as husband and wife and that they were so reputed and that
the said ABNER KING went to the said New Orleans, La. and that he
ABNER KING never returned and that it was always understood him to
have been killed as aforesaid and that she afterwards married
BENJAMIN T. DODSON and that he died and that she the
said REBECKAH DODSON is now widow and that he is satiffied that she
is the lawful widow of the said ABNER KING deceased and that he has
no interest in the foregoing Claim.
