Seeking obituary, or newspaper article, related to Alfred F. HOLLEY.
Alfred was born July 12, 1921 in Lauderdale County, AL. His date of
death is unknown. He died in a terrible gas truck accident, sometime
between 1943 and 1946. Alfred had to turn the truck quickly to avoid
hitting another vehicle. The gas truck burst into flames and killed
him.
Alfred was married to Lillian PETTUS on December 25, 1942. Alfred
listed his residence as Minor Hill, TN. Alfred was my father's
brother.

I am looking for info on the family of Janes Roland COBB (b. 8/6/1860
in Fayette or Lamar Co., AL d. 5/23/26 in Lawrence Co., TN). He was
married twice. The first time to Ann Eliza SMOTHERS (b. 12/14/1860
in SC d. 4/3/1905 in Winston Co., AL). His second wife was Mattie
GLEATON (b. 12/1/1877 in GA d. 7/6/1951 in Lawrence Co., TN). In
1930, Mattie was listed as head of house hold with chldren: Arthur,
Mollie, and Cecil. James had several children from both marriages.
I am descended through his son William Thomas Cobb (b. 4/9/1886 in AL
d. 8/9/1947 in Addison, Winston Co., AL). William's mother was
James's first wife.

Actually these families originated in Wayne County,TN,Lawwrence,Lewis
Counties TN.,
Researching my ALLEN/HAYES family in Lawrence County, Tn.and Texas.
MY grandfather James Shelton "Shell" ALLEN, B. 19BT.Wayne Co.,Tn
b. abt 1849. M. 1.to; Mary GIBSON; 28 July 1872,They had three in
1880 census children;Sarah,Lavonia, and James. No informaion on this
family, its like they were swept away with the wind! By 1886 in
Lewis Co.TN. Shell had
married Mary HAYES,whose parents were William R. HAYES and
Sarah(Sallie) ALLEN. My Mary Hayes was one of 13 children.
Need information regarding Sarah (sallie)ALLEN-HAYES death. Her
husband William R. Hayes moved to Texas and I do not know if Sallie
died prior to Leaving Tennnessee, on the way to Texas or after they
settled there. I would like to know where Sallie ALLEN-HAYES is
buried. If you have any information on these families, please email

Information regarding;ALLEN FAMILY. Shell ALLEN b. abt.1854, Wayne
Co,TN. Marriage 1. Mary GIBSON b. abt. 1861,Leona b. abt.1874,James
b.abt.1876 and Sarah b.abt.1878.
In 1886 Shell ALLEN married Mary HAYES in Lewis County, TN.,
along with his children they had other children and both died

Looking for information/descendents of Ezekiel and Susannah (maiden
also Mobley)Mobley, who lived in Lawrence and Maury Counties from
about 1810-1824. They had children Edward (m. Jane Bradshaw), Mary

John Wince ESTES and Mary MITCHELL married in Lauderdale County, Al
in 1866. Their children were Joe, Annie, Tennie,Wince,Jr., and Aaron.
Joe and Wince, Jr. are known to be buried in Lawrenceburg and Loretta
respectively. Any information about these people is desired. Of
particular interest is the father of Mary Mitchell (Thomas J.
MITCHELL) who had a very interesting history (associated with his
death in Mississippi). If this story was passed down through

Looking for local info on Nellie Naomi JARVIS, born in Lawrence Co.
on 21 Dec 1883, daughter of James William and Mary JARVIS. James
William and family lived in Illinois in 1880, and was in Indiana by
1885; he was a farmer. A sister, Mary Ann, died in 1883, may be
buried here. Older sister Lutie Belle, 10, may have been in school.

Samuel may have married a Chickasaw woman who was Manerva's mother

I am looking for parents of William Hobert Giles; born 1898 died 1966
and his wife Sarah Alice Ruff; born 1901 died 1949. They both came
from east Tn.,don't know exactly when. I believe Dovie Hill; wife of
Samuel Hill may have been either a Giles or Ruff before marrage to
Mr. Hill. I do know Wm Hobert had a brother named John, his wife

Can anyone tell me where was Wolf Creek, Dist 1 in 1860 is on today's
map. I understand that in 1860 the post office that served the Wolf
Creek was Green Hill (Lauderdale County) Alabama. Can anyone
confirm this? The Ephraim GRISHAM and Jordan DURBIN family lived
there. The 1860 census also states a vacant home of Mary ATWELL and
another vacant home of Charley ATWELL.

The 1840 census lists a James KIRK living in Lawrence Co., TN, with a
wife, 2 sons and 1 daughter. Also in 1850 there is a Wm. P. Kirk
there with his family. It isn't clear if the two are related. Does
anyone have any information on these folks? I am looking for a

there is an inscription...much like a monogram...that is about the
same size as his name. It is "BMA" with the "M" being larger than

I am looking for information about MARY AMANDA DUNCAN. She was born
in 1824 in Tennessee. From the 1850 Census record, it appears she
had a younger brother, George W. Duncan, who was born about 1838.
Mary Amanda married Abraham Helton in 1842 or 1843. They lived in
Lawrence County, TN and had 3 children:
Eliza Emeline b. 1844, married Jonas Crews in 1859;
Frances Matilda b. abt 1855;
William James b. abt 1850.
She died in Lawrence Co., TN, in 1894 and was buried in the
Buchanan-Crews Cemetery. She has been reinterred in Pleasant Grove
Cemetery.
I would like to know the names of her parents and her place of birth.

My grandmother, Mabel Pearl ADKISSON was born May 8,1895 in Wayland
Springs,Lawrence Co, Tn. She died Oct 12 1991 in Tucson,Pima,Az. She
was the d/o of William Jonas ADKISSON( b. Feb 2 1855 in Wayland
Springs and d.Dec 18,1940)and Sarah Jane(Jamie) WILLIS(b.Nov 10, 1860
in Lawrence Co. Tn. and d.Jan 20, 1930). Both parents died in
Savannah,Hardin Co. Tn. William and Jamie ADKISSON were married on
Aug 7, 1879. I assume in Lawrence Co? If my only source is correct,
Mabel ADKISSON'S siblings were Virgil S., Hawtie M., Ida B., James
Walter,and Edgar Trew ADKISSON, all born between 1880 and 1889. It
appears that all or most of her family moved to Hardin county Tn
sometime after her birth. Mabel ADKISSON married Judge E Everett
MABRY in Hardin Co Tn. They had one child, Raymond Earnest MABRY. I
would appreciate a 1980 and/or 1990 Lawrence County Census lookup and
any information anyone might have in regard to my grandmother and her

My grandfather was James Wiley Williams DOB 4/6/1872, Lawrenceburg,
TN. His Social Sec App gives his father's name as William Preston
Williams and mother's name as Fannie Gower, both of Lawrence Co., TN.
William Preston married a 2nd time to Mary J. Kelso and moved to
Giles Co., TN. The 1880 Census lists my grandfather as Wiley, 8 yrs,
grandson. Can anyone shed some light on this???

Searching for desendants of Hardin Payne.
Except from Godspeed's History of Lawrence Co., TN....
... The first commissioners of the poor were Robert Hill, George
Lucus and Robert Chaffin, who were appionted in 1820. In 1824 Mr.
Lucas ,James Burns and Hardin Payne distributed $62 to the
poor. Previous to the purchase of the poor farm in 1837, pauper s
were cared for by private indiviuals....
Further is greatly appreciated.

JOEL B. DRAKE was in Lawrence Co. abt. 1851 and died there in 1881,
buried in Neal Cemetery. Was married first to ELITIA MYRA BENTHAL
abt. 1836-1840 in Giles Co. Married SUSAN WILLIAMSON BLACK, widow of
ISAAC N. BLACK. After SUSAN'S death in Dec. 1861, he married ARTELIA
FORT GOOCH, May 1862. He fathered at least 19 children. ELITIA JANE
DRAKE, his first child to reach adulthood, married GEORGE W. WELCH in
1861. They were my gr. grandparents, and are buried in Neal
Cemetery. Have recently been in contact with a DRAKE descendent from
JOEL B.'S 3rd wife and he has info that the parents of JOEL B. DRAKE
were LEWIS AND ELIZABETH CONWAY DRAKE. Has no proof, but this has
been passed down to him by his father OSCAR DRAKE, JR., deceased. We
would like to have any info about any of these family members or
anyone connected to them. Would like to know of any siblings also,
if anyone knows of any. KETURAH DRAKE, the second child of JOEL'S
married J. SIMMS. I have no record of where any of his wives are

Lawrence Co. TN, 1852,his son Issac Sr. and Issac Jr., Issac Jr.
married Sioney OWL, daug. of Lewis OWL, in Tenn. in 1844, they moved
into Mississippi where thier first child was born in 1845. Issac Sr.
also had a daughter, Martha,who married John PIERE, in Lawrenceburg,
Lawrence Co. Tenn in 1846. Any help you can give on this family will

I am looking for a WILLIWMS family, that I am told is from Tennessee,
James Dickson WILLIAMS, He went by Dick, was born in 1840, He came to
Texas sometime after the civil war and married in Texas. He was
supposedly married to someone else, in Tennessee, and his wife was
killed along with a child, He took the other child, (Harmon Layfette
Williams) and came to Texas. I know this is not much information,

I'm trying to gather some information on my grandparents and my
father. My grandfather's name was Hiram CRAFT I'm not sure if he was
a Tennessee native or not. My grandmother's name Lara Vida CRAFT. I'm
not too sure if that is her correct name. Everyone called her Vida
when I was little. She was an Alabama native I do believe, but I'm
almost certain that she and my grandfather married in Tennessee.
Possibily in Iron City, or somewhere in Lawrence county. My father
Carl Leon CRAFT was born Nov. 29, 1949 in Iron City. Then between
childhood and his teenage years moved with his parents, and brothers

I am looking for any info on the Dunnigan family of Lawerance co.My
grandfather married Bertha Dunnigan in I belive 1925 in lawerance
co.He was Evan F Goad. I am trying to find Bertha's family .She had

LONG
I am looking for a LONG family that resided in TN between 1833-1844
as this is the time that thier first children were born. The
children; Elizabeth b:1833; James b:1835; Reuben b:1837; Polly
b:1839; Catherine b:1841; Solomon b:1844. The mother is listed as an
Alsy S. (spelling maybe different) and she is born in TN between
@1816 according to her age on the 1850 census. She married an Edward
Long b: @ 1810 and he is listed as being born in Alabama. The family
should be listed on the 1840 TN census, but I have been unable to
find them. I believe that the family may have left TN for KY or TX in
1844 as I find them in Texas in 1850. Thanks for any help Erny

1934. He was in the military, Air force, I believe, and was either
stationed in or around Memphis or was on leave there in September
1953 when he was about 20 years old. If this gent is living, he would

Inquiring about a Moses Williams that left the area around 1829/29
and traveled to Texas to claim property offered by the Mexican
government. I'm sure he was part of the "Nashville Company", a group
of families connected to Col. Sterling C. Robertson. Robertson and
Stephen F. Austin recruited many families from TN to go and claim
land.

I'm searching for information about my great-grandfather's brother,
Timothy Dillard TITTLE, and his wife, Margaret Elizabeth (Bettie)
RIGSBY. Timothy and Bettie were married in 1881 in Warren Co TN and
moved to Lawrence Co TN sometime thereafter. Timothy died on 6 Jun
1919 in West Point, Lawrence Co. and is buried in the West Point
Cemetery there. I don't know when Bettie died or where she is buried
(also West Point cemetery?).
Any information or leads about Timothy and Bettie would be
appreciated.

Looking for a 4 year old boy in the 1860 census that is labeled in a
1860 census book as SHANUS, James(notation of questionable last name
spelling)age 4 County Lawrence census handwritten page #210 &
standard upper right hand corner page number 399. I've been looking
for my gggrandfather James Shans for 6 years without success. Family
tales where he was placed on a wagon train (from Mobile) as a young
boy and sent to live with friends in Tennessee. If someone has this
census and would look this up for me it would be greatly appreciated.
I also need the family information in which he was living with.

Looking for any information on Alfred M. Harrison b. abt.1814 in Tn.
I've located him on an 1850 Maury County census. He was married to
Elizabeth ? from N.C. (b. abt. 1826). They had 3 children that I know
of: John H.Harrison (b. abt.1846), Doctor Monroe Harrison (b. July
1849 in Lawrenceburg,Tn. d. 1925) and William Harrison (b.abt.
1853).He also shows up in the 1860 Maury County census and the 1870

I'm seeking info on my G. grandfather Daniel Webster KELLY b. abt
1853 Lawrence Co. TN. Married abt. 1877/78, Lawrence Co. TN,
Francis J. (?) Could be BRYANT b. abt. 1864, Lawrence Co. TN. I'm
trying to find their parents names. Daniel was suppose to be a
college professor?? The family home burned abt. 1905-11 & Francis
died in the fire, shortly after Daniel committed suicide, leaving
nine KELLY children: Andrew, Tom, Willis, Robert, Talamage, Mollie,

know anything about John McAlister living with his daughter Mary
