William Robert English
Lawrenceburg, Tn. W.R. ENGLISH CALLED TO GREAT BEYOND. William Robert English died at his home on North Military Street Friday of last week after a continued illness. He suffered a stroke of paralysis about four years ago from which he never fully recovered and had been real ill for several weeks. Had he lived until the 29th October, he would have been 75 years of age. A short service was held at the home Saturday, September 8 [1934] at 12:30 o'clock, with scripture reading by his pastor, Rev. W. C. Phillips, a song by Mrs. C. C. Stockard, Miss Lurline Freemon and Charles W. Vaughn and prayer by Rev. S. T. Neeley. The body was then taken to Campbellsville by Freemon and Company, where a funeral service was held at the Cumberland Presbyterian church, followed by burial in the cemetery there. A number of Lawrenceburg people went with the funeral party, some from Pulaski and others from Campbellsville .Mr. and Mrs. English and family removed from Campbellsville to Lawrenceburg about 17 years ago, and the family has grown into the hearts of the people and they have as many friends here, probably more, than in their former home, on account of the increased population. Mr. and Mrs. English were married nearly 50 years ago and had he lived could have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary on December 16, of this year. She was Miss Sally Baker before their marriage. He had been a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church for many years and was a ruling elder at the time of his death in the church here. He was a splendid citizen, quiet and unobstrusive, honest and upright in his dealings with his fellow-man and lived a good clean Christian life. Mr. English was born in Giles County and reared there and leaves a number of relatives there and leaves his wife and four children. The children are: Mrs. Reece Campbell, of Campbellsville; John T. English, Oklahoma City; Mrs. J. T. Stone, Loretto, and Miss Martha English, of this city. He will be missed not only by his family but by a large circle of relatives and friends, and the family has the sympathy of all.-[died Sept. 7, 1934.
