DAVIS - REED

Joann Oldham Sat May 22 14:37:23 2004
Wesley DAVIS (1812-1900) m. Nellie (Eleanor?) REED (1818-1858) abt 1837. They are together on the 1850 Hamilton Co TN census with children Elizabeth 12 (Is this Cynthia?), Jane 10, (Is this Cynthia?) 10, Lafayette 5 (This is George Lafayette DAVIS who moved to Sturgeon, Jackson Co, KY in time for the 1870 census.), William 2, Ellender 4/12. By 1860 Hamilton Co TN census Wesley has a new wife Mary and more kids. I am interested in George Lafayette DAVIS and why in the 1870 and 1880 census of Jackson Co KY he calls Pharzina JOHNSON his mother and Elizabeth JOHNSON his sister. Probably his wife's mo and sis.

By 1880 Wesley and family are thrown into the James Co census, the jurisdictions having moved, not them moving. I have not found Wesley on the 1900 census, but expect to. Let me know if we can share. Joann Oldham

My Cherokee Grandmother, 6 times removed, was born abt. 1760 in Ootelwah, 100 miles to the west of old Pendleton. About 1782 she married John SUTTON or SITTON, who was a Trader. I know of her as Betsey SUTTON but nothing of her life before marriage. Does anyone know where I can continue my search. All help appreciated. Thank you.
