COOK, NELSON

The 1914 Jackson County, TN, death certificate for my relative, Martha Adiline (NELSON) COOK, ((daughter of Taylor NELSON, wife of E.A. COOK)) states that she is buried in "Gladico" Cemetery. I know that there is a "Gladdico" area of Jackson County, but I have been unable to find any reference to any cemetery by that name. Does anyone have any idea where this cemetery might be located? Does anyone have information about the families of William MORREL(L), William MORREL(L) JR and Reece (sometimes spelled Reese or Rese)MORREL(L) who owned land near the river at Gainesborough between 1820 and about 1843. The two Williams probably came from the Pendleton District in South Carolina. Reece MORREL(L) was born in April 1795 in the Old Camden District, South Carolina according to family history. Reece served in Capt. Bailey Butler's company of the Tennessee Militia in 1813-14. He married Rachel CARLISLE, daughter of William and Nancy KIRKPATRICK CARLISLE, on Sept. 23, 1719 in Jackson County. I am particularly interested in deeds preserved in family records that might mention the land of either of the William MORREL's or Reece MORREL (other than the brief mentions of Reece MORRELL in Betty Huff Bryant's "Building Neighborhoods"). Reece MORREL's land was on a branch of Sugar Creek. The land of the two Williams was supposedly on the other side of the Cumberland River.

Houston married Nancy CUMMINS and shortly after the birth of his first son, they joined other families going west, (theCUMMINS AND DICUS/DYCUS families). Running out of money, they settled in So. Indiana. He died in English (Crawford County), IN. November 14, 1884. He was a member and elder of the Diciples of Christ Church. GARRETT, RICHARDSON

I am searching for the family of Mary Elizabeth (Betsey) GARRETT who married Shadrach RICHARDSON in Cumberland Co., KY on 6 Jan 1806. Shadrach was the son of George and Comfort Claywell Richardson who came from Bedford, VA and lived in Tennessee from 1796 to 1800 before settling in Cumberland Co., KY. There is only one Garrett living close to the Richardson's and the only Garrett I can find living in the county at the time and that is Thomas and his wife Margaret. Since Mary Elizabeth's age doesn't fit in with the children of Thomas on the 1810 census for Cumberland Co.KY, I am wondering if she is his sister or some other relation or not even connected at all. Since Cumberland County is just over the border from Tennessee where there are a lot of Garrett families living in Clay Co., Jackson Co.,Overton Co., Pickett Co., and Fentress Co., I am hoping that someone will recognize any of these people as belonging in their family and give me some help. Hello I am trying to find any info on Ardelia BYERS and her 1st husband WILLIAM MARTIN they had one child Nancy born abt. 1870. in the 1870 census Ardelia is living with her brother Andrew BYERS and there is no mention of William and can not find him anywhere near where she is residing. Sometime before 1880 she married Absolom HARLEY and her daughter Nancy is listed as 10 and is listed as step-daughter to Abosolm. Nancy on 4-14-1885 in Gainesville, MO had a child named Harvey Brantley Martin (he is my great grandfather)there is no mention of a father and in the 1900 census he is listed with Absolom and Ardelia with no mention of his mother. At some point either officially or unofficially he took the last name Harley as that is how his SSA lists him and it also lists his parents as Ab Harley and Ardelia Byers. Our family never even knew that his last name should have been Martin until I got into genealogy. HUTCHISON, WILSON, LEE, WILKERSON,

The HUTCHISONS described in the HUTCHISON, JENKINS query. lived on Jennings Creek where the WILSONS, LEES, WILKERSONS, were their neighbors. The WILSONS and HUTCHISONS are thought (research suggests) to have come through Greene and/or Blount Cos. on their way from the Botetourt Co (originally Augusta Co) area of Va. Wiley Benjamin HUTCHISON Sr. named his children Wiley Benjamin (for himself) John (for his father), George (for George HUTCHISON), Abner Lee (For Abner LEE of Jackson Co) and Ephriam Wilson (for EPHRAIM WILSON) of the Jennings Cr area of Jackson. These could have been for relatives or for close friends. I have leads that suggest that Wiley Benj. Sr's Grandmother may have been a WILSON. Would like very much to exchange information. Expect to be in the Jackson Co. area in 2 or 3 week and would appreciate suggestions on where to research.

BELL

Looking for Hugh and Penelope Bells burial site, it is known that Hugh L Bells side of the family was from Jackson County. However Hugh and Penelope raised their family in Forsyth County. Penelope is listed on the 1880 Fed Mortality Sch.There is no mention of where either were buried and they seem to have disappeared. It is also thought that the Bell Family had a Cemetary somewhere in Jackson County,in which it is felt that both could have been buried there.Would appreciate any info on the Bells

I sent a query two days ago about my great grandparents. Some of the information was given to me wrong. My great grandfathers name is misspelled, the correct spelling is Tom Conner and my great grandmothers name was Liza Elizabeth Hishaw(?)not sure about the spelling of the maiden name. But I do know that she was native american. I am not sure what tribe she was from but I do know she was indian. The information given about the ferry boat was also wrong. They just lived on the river in a house boat. They were known as river rats. They lived in the area of Granville. If any one has any information on these people I would greatly appreciate it.

ROGERS SADLER CARDER Looking for information on the children of William ROGERS, who was born about 1780-90 in Chester Co., SC, but later moved to Tennessee. William was the son of Clayton and Betridge SADLER ROGERS. William supposedly had 14 children -- 4 daugthers and 10 sons. Of the 10 sons, 7 were supposedly Methodist ministers. The only offspring I know for certain about is my great-grandfather, Jefferson C. Rogers, who was born in 1820 in Tennessee. Jefferson C. married Nancy Adaline CARDER. They lived in Bledsoe County in 1850, later moved to Smith, White and Wilson counties. He died in 1906 in Wilson County. There was a William Rogers listed on the Maury County tax rolls in 1816 and in the 1820 census rolls, and I'm wondering if this could have been my William or possibly one of his sons.
